Customer Advocacy Manager

Our team is looking for an all-star Customer Advocacy Manager to build a deep, mutually beneficial global customer advocacy program that builds lasting relationships with our brand and delivers a regular cadence of customer references to support cross-functional teams.  This program will have an incredibly deep impact within our organization and customer base, and are looking for someone with passion, creativity and drive to build this program from the ground up.

This team member will report to the Director of Customer Marketing and develop a deep understanding of our customers and their success stories to develop a cohesive customer marketing program.  This person should be an excellent written and visual communicator, and committed to flawless execution.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Create, manage and execute an advocacy program that engages customers to validate Optimizely’s business value, to help articulate our vision, and ultimately act as brand ambassadors on behalf of Optimizely.

  • Build a customer content bureau which ultimately provides customer messaging for case studies and press releases and corporate materials, sales tools and marketing collateral (e.g. website, video, field and partner enablement training materials, white papers, event presentations, etc).

  • Work closely with Sales, Product Management, Product Marketing, and PR teams to leverage the customer content bureau and drive Optimizely's market share and revenue.

  • Identify and work with customers on joint marketing programs, assets and sales tools, including speaking engagements, media relations, case studies, testimonials, videos and presentations that effectively support sales and marketing objectives

  • Identify metrics to measure and track performance of customer advocacy program execution in order to qualify and quantify the impact of the advocacy program on the broader goal to help raise awareness for Optimizely

  • Serve as customer advocacy lead at appropriate company and industry related events (conferences, user groups, advisory boards, VIP outings, etc.)



  • Minimum 3 years of direct participation and ownership for customer reference marketing and/or building a high quality customer relationship/advocacy development program
  • Excellent program or project management skills. Have simultaneously managed multiple high priority tasks or projects with competing deadlines, across multiple departments

  • A fearless and innovative leader who can bring fresh ideas to the management of the program, and can creatively work with clients to tell their story

  • Customer-facing experience (particularly with senior level audiences), and experience initiating and fostering relationships with customers

  • Experience managing marketing or sales campaigns from concept, through implementation, to results analysis

  • Experience working with or managing internal and external teams (sales, success, product) and resources in a fast-paced environment

  • A sense of urgency and the ability to be flexible and react quickly while maintaining a calm, reassuring demeanor

  • Outgoing with dynamic interpersonal and top-notch verbal and written communication skills

  • Previous use of advocacy management tool like Boulder Logic, Influitive, Point of Reference, etc.

  • Nice to have - previous use of sales and marketing management tools like Salesforce, Totango, Marketo, etc.
