School-Based Licensed Mental Health Therapist

Our School-Based Mental Health Program continues this mission by serving DC Youth, school communities, and school families through art-expressive centered mental health services.

About You

To support a newly funded School-Based Mental Health Program, we are looking for dynamic Licensed Mental Health Clinicians who have experience with, and a passion for, working with youth in a school-based setting. Our clinicians provide support in prevention, positive self-image, mindfulness, and advocacy to erase the stigma of mental health in school. Clinicians work closely with teachers, school staff, and parents to support students and their families.

Qualifications:

• Licensed as a LICSW, LGSW, LPC, or LGPC in Washington, DC
• Existing credentialing with AmeriHealth, other MCOs’, and CAQH is preferred, but not required
• CPR and First Aid (WFA); Mandated Reporter training, DCPS clearance, FBI background check, and NSO registry clearance required before first day of work
• A commitment to and understanding of One Common Unity’s mission
• Experience and passion for working with underserved youth (preferably in a school setting)
• Experience or interest in providing services through Art-expressive, Play Therapy, and Expressive Therapy
• A deep understanding, training, and experience in cultural humility and sensitivity
• An ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents, and members of an integrated behavioral health team
• Outstanding verbal, written, and listening skills
• An engaging and dynamic manner that demonstrates warmth and good humor when working with individuals
• Personal qualities of maturity, humility, strong work ethic, flexibility, and a roll-up-my-sleeves work ethic

About the Job

This is a new position in a fast-growing organization. We have expanded our mental health and behavioral health services and are seeking mental health clinicians to serve in our program. Each clinician will work directly with students, parents, teachers, school staff, and administrators to provide comprehensive mental health services at one school site. The ideal candidate will be on-site in one of the schools based in Washington DC, and, as needed, remotely. This is a full-time position, with actual hours depending on the school and caseload.

Job duties include:

• Conduct diagnostic assessments for the school population

• Provide treatment services, such as individualized and group therapy for students

• Maintain cultural humility practice, sensitivity to religious, ethnic, gender, sexuality, ableness, and cultural differences

• Effectively evaluate students in crisis and provide assessment and interventions as needed

• Implement school-wide prevention activities

• Conduct Group sessions, teacher trainings, and parent engagement sessions related to mental health issues

• Work with school staff and administrators to adopt prevention and early intervention strategies

• Conduct home visits to engage parents and students (when appropriate)

• Provide referral or case management services for students needing intensive support

• Maintain HIPPA compliant, confidential case files and reports to track student progress and outcomes

• Integrate supervisory feedback into their practice

• Support colleagues and the mission of OCU

Salary range for this position: $60,000 - $72,397 (based on license and years of experience.)

Physical Requirement of the Job

The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-25 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to be in one position for long periods of screen use, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear both in person and over devices. The employee interacts in close spaces and frequently with other workers, vendors, and clients. The position works in a school or office environment with artificial light and air.
