Position:  

The Director of Marketing, Strategy will report to the Executive Director of US Marketing and will be a key member of core project teams responsible for the planning and commercialization of Oncopeptides’ first therapy, melflufen, in the US.   

 

This role will be responsible for the development and implementation of the melflufen launch strategy as well as future indications for the product.  The Director of Strategy will partner across various functions including commercial operations, market access, sales, medical affairs, legal and compliance.  Success in this role will require the individual to have relevant oncology launch experience and the ability to collaborate, lead and influence cross functionally.

 

This position is based in Mountain View, CA or Waltham, MA

Domestic and international travel up to 20%.


Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Develop launch strategy through evaluation of market opportunity, competitors and melflufen target product profile; Facilitate endorsement on plans from Global Headquarters and Leadership

  • Lead cross functional launch planning team to ensure organizational alignment and launch readiness; Provide leadership with ongoing updates on launch planning progress

  • Develop brand forecast; Plan and coordinate market research to inform forecast assumptions and appropriate scenario planning

  • Develop plans to monitor launch performance and tracking; Develop KPIs and coordinate launch performance updates  

  • Collaborate with Commercial Operations to conduct data analysis and execute market research projects; Integrate insights to identify issues and/or opportunities

  • Develop plans to monitor competitor activity, assess and communicate implications 

  • Partner with Sales Operations to develop sales force sizing and account targeting/prioritization recommendations

  • Develop organizational approach and lead brand planning activities including development of Annual Brand / Tactical Plans and Competitor Readiness Reviews 

  • Partner with Regional Marketing Team to develop and coordinate implementation of Commercial Advisory Board Plan


 

Ideal Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, advanced degree preferred

  • Minimum 7-9 years of sales, marketing or consulting experience in the biopharmaceutical industry (global experience; hematology experience a plus)

  • Must be able to conceptualize and articulate a vision for brand that energizes all functional areas and stakeholders.

  • Cross functional leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively, drive effective decision making and build consensus  

  • Proven ability to understand, track, analyze and leverage customer and marketplace insights into building effective marketing strategies and business plans

  • Demonstrated ability to use analytical skills and critical thinking to diagnosis business issues and incorporate into development or adjustment of marketing plans

  • Able to navigate through organizational ambiguity in a self-directed manner

  • Up-to-date with the latest trends, marketing best practices, and compliance requirements

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing project deadlines to produce the most efficient, timely output of deliverables

  • Ability to communicate effectively and with influence; having a persuasive and credible presentation style at all levels of the organization
