About OmniAb’s xPloration® Discovery System:
OmniAb’s xPloration Discovery System offers superior screening and cell recovery compared to other single cell profiling technologies. Its high throughput enables the discovery of rare cells potentially missed by other systems or approaches. Its rapid laser-based recovery process paired with next-generation sequencing enables further mining of immune repertoires for potential hit expansion. xPloration supports various assay formats and is valuable for high-throughput B cell screening within the growing OmniAb partner ecosystem.
About This Role
We’re seeking a Senior Associate of Business Development who will be responsible for driving business development, sales, deployment and market adoption of xPloration, our high-throughput single B cell screening platform, managing the full sales cycle, and building relationships with biotech, pharmaceutical, and academic research partners and customers. The Senior Associate of Business Development will be an important member of the xPloration team that focuses on developing, selling, and supporting xPloration instruments for our partners’ research applications. This individual will collaborate with our R&D and Applications Development, Marketing, Finance and Legal teams to ensure a seamless customer experience and drive business growth. The ideal candidate has experience in device sales, particularly in screening, analytical, or diagnostic instruments for life sciences, with a strong understanding of antibody discovery and immunology research workflows.
This role reports to the VP, Discovery Systems.
This is a hybrid position based out of our Emeryville headquarters that will require 1 to 2 days in the office per week and up to 50% travel. This is a full-time position, and the office hours are within 8am to 5pm PT.
What You’ll Do
- Execute a strategic business development and sales plan to drive adoption of our xPloration instrument.
- Identify and engage key accounts, including biotech and pharmaceutical companies and academic research labs within the growing OmniAb ecosystem.
- Support the full sales cycle, from initial outreach and discovery of customer needs to strategic follow-up, facilitating negotiations, and securing final agreements.
- Educate potential customers on the benefits and applications of our screening technology.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sciences, Marketing, Business Development, Finance and Legal, to enhance the customer experience.
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies in antibody discovery and screening instruments.
- Represent OmniAb at relevant conferences and trade shows.

What You Bring
- BSc in Business with experience in Science or a BSc in Science with experience in Business.
- Certified Sales Professional (CSP) or another relevant sales training certification.
- 4+ years of experience in device sales, ideally in screening, analytical, or diagnostic instruments for life sciences.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding business development or sales targets.
- Strong understanding of antibody discovery, immunology, or biopharma research workflows.
- Experience selling to biotech, pharmaceutical, and academic research institutions.
- Existing relationships with biotech, pharma, and academic research institutions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with experience demonstrating scientific instruments for prospective partners.
- Experience using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and sales analytics platforms.
- Experience in sales cycle reporting; managing and providing pipeline status updates to leadership.
- Ability to analyze market trends and provide strategic sales insights.
- Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and/or internationally.
Nice To Have
- MSc or PhD in Bioengineering, Immunology, Molecular Biology or another relevant Life Sciences or Business field.
- Marketing or Business Development Certifications (e.g., HubSpot Inbound Sales Certification)
- Experience selling AI-powered or automation-driven life sciences devices.
- Knowledge of flow cytometry, single-cell analysis, or high-throughput screening technologies.
- Familiarity with antibody discovery workflows, including hybridoma, phage display, or B-cell screening methods.
