Associate Director, FP&A

Job Description

We are seeking an Associate Director, FP&A to lead and oversee OmniAb’s planning and analysis processes.  This role will report to the SVP & Corporate Controller and work closely with the Executive team to develop financial strategies and drive analytics to enable business decision making. This position will drive long-term planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes for the company and provide detailed monthly reports and analysis.

The successful candidate has experience in managing and scaling a Finance organization for organizational growth within the bio-pharmaceutical industry. They will possess strong leadership, management, and communication skills, ensuring that team members understand and respect functional goals, objectives, priorities, and timelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with department heads to prepare financial forecasts, analyze variances, review operational metrics

  • Provide on-going and ad-hoc analytical support to management, including preparing budgets and forecasts, and supporting the portfolio review, strategic planning, and budget processes

  • Manage the annual planning calendar and coordination of strategic plan, budget and forecasts

  • Manage the Partner Information and Management System (PIMS) by keeping database up to date and performing quarterly metric reporting by partnering with program leaders

  • Provide value-added partnership to business stakeholders, identifying areas of improved ROI or potential cost savings and implementing new approaches for achieving savings

  • Partner with Accounting for the determination of monthly accruals

  • Develop and present strategic insights about the business and report out to the CFO and Executive team for effective business decisions

  • Assess ongoing FP&A processes and tools for continuous improvement and automation opportunities

  • Prepare and monitor capital expenditure plan

  • Conduct spend and return on investment analysis by both departments and projects, enabling resources allocation and prioritization decisions

  • Support preparation of investors reporting and Board presentations

  • Assist with merger and acquisition due diligence and assimilation of information related to mergers and acquisitions

  • Respond to reports issued by external and/or internal auditors, including the implementation of recommendations, as appropriate

  • Enhance and support a collaborative, innovative, and disciplined Finance organization

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent work experience; MBA degree and/or CPA preferred

  • 10+ years of experience in a senior finance/accounting position in a growing company from a relevant industry (biotech, life sciences); prior experience with a Big 4 public accounting firm is preferred

  • 4+ years of FP&A experience

  • Familiarity with the compliance requirements of a public company

  • Knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), and an ability to support the Company’s compliance with all relevant accounting and certification requirements

  • Working knowledge of GAAP to facilitate understanding of forecast and budget results

  • Business savvy and financial acumen: technical knowledge on analytics, business foresight, problem-solving skills and ability to translate ambiguity to clarity

  • Self-directed, accomplishment-driven individual with a strong sense of urgency who can work both independently and in a cross-functional team environment, fostering open communication, mutual understanding, and cooperation

  • Exceptional business acumen and proven success in driving significant process implementations and improvements

  • Track record of collaboration, stakeholder relationship management, and influencing key decision-makers

  • Excellent organizational, communication, documentation, modeling and analysis skills, with high attention to detail and focus on accuracy and accountability

  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze large amounts of data and maintain complex financial models; demonstrated proficiency with advanced functions

  • Fluency with standard computer software packages

  • Ability to convey financial performance to audiences at different levels in the organization

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment where adaptability is imperative
