The Optimization Packaging Solutions Engineer analyzes customer packaging volumes and supply-chain methods to recommend solutions to reduce the customer’s supply-chain cost. Works with teams to analyze WMS data, Audit DC, record the “As is“ status of current packaging and space usage and assists in developing solutions using packaging as the primary tool to deliver net supply-chain cost reductions. While driving savings, solutions will be expected to increase product protection and ensuring retail efficiency and color consistency. The Optimization Packaging Solutions Engineer has a major role in strategic decisions such as standardizing/optimizing packaging across all brands, defining and deploying a sustainable packaging strategy. The Optimization Packaging Solutions Engineer works closely with Program Managers, the Creative and Technical Directors and serves as a liaison to accounting, operations and Asia-based staff for project-specific matters. OIA Global has expanded into Europe, Mexico, South America, Dominican Republic and the USA. This global expansion will open the opportunity for expanded roles, responsibilities and advancement. Some travel should be expected.


  • Use of functional calculus to optimize packaging from the origin to final customer
  • Plan and coordinate the technical and management aspects of the package development
  • Assist in packaging optimization improvement, working cross-functionally to drive packaging related initiatives
  • Manage assigned Package Optimization Development projects, working with Brand and project teams, to meet category objectives and project due dates
  • Communicate technical issues and details to the project team and management
  • Provide packaging options to meet: consumer requirements, functional parameters, cost targets, manufacturing & shipping requirements
  • Provide technical input to package design process and assure package designed for manufacturing acceptability and assembling, while realizing desirable aesthetic elements
  • Execute new package designs and perform package component testing and qualification, working with suppliers, from engineering prints to making models and prototypes, through to unit and production tooling
  • Work effectively with Suppliers, and Manufacturing to assure the creation of timely functional specifications
  • Prioritize, manage, quantify, track, and report all packaging development projects. Continuously improve existing methods and processes to facilitate efficient delivery of high-quality products to customers
  • Confirms packaging design by conferring and collaborating with product line managers, developers, production, and marketing departments
  • Record packaging material attributes and specifications
  • Provide support in a cross-functional manner with other departments when presented with quality issues related to packaging


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Functional Mathematics, Manufacturing or Engineering or relevant experience specifically in the use of calculus and applying methods of statistical variations
  • 5-7 years’ Logistics, Warehousing or Packaging experience (preferred)
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Capable of creating written reports, proposals and project documentation
  • Ability to lead presentations to leadership as required
  • Knowledge of logistics, transportation alternatives, and customer expectations
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, product designs, safety, quality, and workflow needs
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have experience working as part of a multidisciplinary project team
