Embedded Systems/Firmware Engineer

Engineering | Beavercreek, OH | Full Time

Job Description

About Us:

Oculii is developing high resolution imaging radar software to enable the next generation of autonomous systems. Traditional phased array radars have been used for decades and follow a strict size for performance tradeoff - the larger the sensor aperture, the higher the angular resolution. Oculii’s Virtual Aperture Imaging radar software technology fundamentally breaks this tradeoff - enabling its sensors to trade increased compute/processing for angular resolution enhancement with the same physical aperture. Leveraging this technique enables Oculii sensors to extract unprecedented accuracy, range, and 4D positioning information from commodity off the shelf low-cost radar elements, bringing high resolution radar imaging to the next frontier.

Embedded Systems/Firmware Engineer

Job Description

The engineer will be part of a small team and participate in systems design as well as be responsible for bringing up embedded hardware, implementing algorithms, and writing drivers for a variety of embedded system elements including DACs, ADCs, SPI peripherals, memory interfaces, and more. The ideal engineer will work well with the system architects, contribute to the overall design of the embedded systems, and collaborate with mixed-signal/RF as well as digital design engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Bring up and verify functionality of new embedded system platforms using test C code and lab equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.)
  • Design and testing of low-level control drivers for a variety of peripherals such as converters, synthesizers, etc.
  • Bring up of real-time embedded operating systems like RT-Linux on ARM platforms
  • Work with system specifications to implement, verify, and test embedded systems drivers and algorithms in C/C++ running on these systems
  • Ensure that designed modules meet specifications and interface correctly with the rest of the system
  • Work with mixed signal and digital design engineers to ensure that interfaces are properly designed
  • Help systems team identify and select appropriate embedded systems controllers

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 3-10 years of experience working on embedded systems
  • Demonstrated ability to design, build, and ship C code for embedded systems
  • Fluent in C/C++ and able to rapidly design, test, and verify systems
  • Experience with embedded operating systems (RT-Linux) on ARM platforms
  • Experience with a variety of microcontrollers including ARM and MIPS
  • Clear written and spoken communication
