What you’ll be doing

The Regional Business Director, Northeast is a front-line field leadership role on Nuvation Bio’s commercial sales team. This position will play an integral role in the preparation for a successful launch of Taletrectinib, ROS1 inhibitor within the (location e.g., “Northwest”). The role will be accountable for building, leading, and managing a high performing field-based Account Management team and overseeing all commercial field sales activities related to the successful launch. The selected candidate will have direct responsibilities for the development of strategic and tactical plans and directing the execution of those plans to meet and exceed performance goals. This role reports to an Executive Director of Sales and will be based in/near a major city within the assigned region.

You will be responsible for…

  • Hire, develop, and lead a high-performing oncology Account Management team to meet the evolving needs of customers and drive business results within the assign region.
  • Directly engage with Oncology Account Managers and customers through weekly field days to maintain and develop relationships, ensure consistent/precise execution of the brand strategy, and clearly understand the changing dynamics of the market.
  • Take ownership and management of key accounts and KOL relationships.
  • Collaborate with the data/analytics & the marketing team to maximize the use of data and reports that enable a higher level of customer service and promotion.
  • Leverage new technologies (i.e., Omnichannel) to build strategies and tactics to deliver product messaging to the customer.
  • Direct the development and execution of a customer engagement plan within the assigned region that is aligned with Taletrectinib launch strategies and tactics.
  • Continuously builds and owns strong NSCLC clinical acumen as well as an understanding of the reimbursement environment, and oral oncolytic distribution to lead a targeted strategy in assigned region.
  • Conduct regular business reviews to coach and evaluate the assigned Account Management team’s performance against established objectives.
  • Provides Executive Director of Sales with plans, covering competitive activity, performance results, and customer service issues.
  • Maintain strong clinical acumen and understanding of payer mix, reimbursement environment, and distribution to lead a targeted strategy in the assigned area.
  • Plans, forecasts, and oversees regional operating budgets, while actively monitoring expenses as part of overall P/L management.
  • Provide consistent, timely and accurate performance feedback based on observations of key customer interactions and business performance as part of an overall performance management process.
  • Ensures all promotional activities within the region are conducted with the highest degree of ethics, meeting all legal requirements and standards, starting always with a mindset of ‘doing the right thing’. Works with legal, regulatory and sales leadership to address ambiguous situations, leading to decisions that balance innovation and risk management.

What Knowledge & Experience you'll bring to us...

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Biological Sciences, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of pharmaceutical sales experience with at least 4 years of pharmaceutical sales management experience with demonstrated success in product launches and building high-performance sales teams.
  • Minimum 5 years oncology experience, solid tumors and oral oncolytic preferred. Non-small cell lung cancer experience highly preferred.
  • Experience that included proven leadership, mentorship and coaching field Oncology Account Managers.
  • Direct experience owning and managing key opinion leaders and/or executive-level customers relationships in large practices, hospitals, and community networks.
  • Demonstrated success launching new products in a small to mid-size biotech company, reflecting an entrepreneurial culture and innovative mindset.
  • Passion for patient population and deep desire to have a meaningful impact on patient lives
  • Demonstrated track record of success, leading teams, and developing talent.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a high level of productivity, innovation, and priority-setting to deliver on organizational goals.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and work with a high level of integrity.
  • Establish and maintain strong clinical acumen to facilitate rapport with KOLs, community HCPs and effectively coach/mentor the assigned account manager team.
  • Ability to travel up to 60% domestic with occasional travel to Nuvation Bio’s corporate offices in New York NY and San Franciso, CA.
  • A requirement of the position is to meet credentialing requirements for access to academic institutions, medical facilities, and organizations that are in the assigned region. These credentialing requirements may include, but are not limited to, background checks, drug screens, and proof of immunization and/or vaccinations. Failure to meet all requirements may prevent an employee from performing all essential job responsibilities.

The pay range for this position is $240,000 to $265,000 per year, which may factor in various geographic regions. The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the level and position offered.
