Public Relations Intern

Sales and Marketing | Austin, TX | Part Time

Job Description

Public Relations Intern

Are you a self-starting student with a strong interest in storytelling, media relations, content marketing, and journalism and intellectually curious about everything from social impact and philanthropy, to real estate and investing?

We are looking for passion driven PR specialists who share our unique vision of creating a social innovation ecosystem for impact organizations and changing communities.

About Us:

Notley is a catalyst for social innovation. We unlock new opportunities for impact-minded organizations and changing communities. We’re ecosystem builders and social innovators on a mission to fund and support businesses, nonprofits, and programs making a positive change in the world.

We’re a fast-paced, team-oriented group that is breaking the rules of social innovation. We’re highly collaborative and seek out individuals with unique backgrounds that aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and build incredible things from the ground up.

“Hustle” is on the wall for a reason.  It’s our mantra.  It doesn’t mean frantic or busy, it means a purposefully lean approach to creating something out of nothing. It’s the art of pushing balls downhill or putting yourself in a place to be the beneficiary of serendipity. Hustling is a practice or approach to your work, it’s not a discrete thing you do - it’s a way of living and working.

Founded in 2015 by Lisa Wilson Graham and Dan Graham, founder of BuildASign.com, as a way to leverage their own business and investing success, Notley partners with social impact companies and nonprofits ready to scale. To learn more, visit notleyventures.com.

Responsibilities:

  • Research current trends and credibility-building opportunities in the local and national social impact and social entrepreneur ecosystems.

  • Initiate and maintain quality relationships with local and national media relevant to Notley’s brand family of core topics and interests.

  • Develop well researched and written pitches that position Notley’s brand family in a positive and opportunistic light.

  • Analyze article sentiment and creating coverage reports following major announcements.

  • Assist with PR, content and copy based event promotion and sponsor fulfillment for Notley initiatives.

  • Ensure Notley is known for sharing high-quality information and news on key topics, including but not limited to: impact investing, real estate for social good, and nonprofit innovation and sustainability.

  • Collaborate with events, social media, and sales teams on promotions and announcements to maximum engagement and conversion.

  • Daily news monitoring and flagging of relevant stories and national news topics.

Requirements:

  • Able to meet deadlines with good time management and flexibility.

  • You are a “doer” with high enthusiasm, motivation and organization skills.

  • Experience with pitch writing and/or media relations

  • Excited and happy to work independently online and in-office with our team in Austin

  • Have strong English writing skills (preferably native language)

  • Upcoming Junior or Senior in college majoring in marketing, PR, advertising or communications desired (or graduate student)

  • Must live in Austin, Texas

Bonus Points:

  • Experience using Cision, Muck Rack, Meltwater or other media monitoring tool

  • Experience using Google Drive and team messaging platforms such as Slack

  • Basic understanding of media analysis

Perks:

The opportunity to intern with an incredible team with two high growth philanthropy events - Philanthropitch and Startup Games -  that are scaling nationally.  You’ll have nearly unlimited potential for learning and professional growth.

When we mentioned that we’re a highly collaborative team, we mean it. You’ll be working alongside fundraisers for sponsorships, a marketing and creative team that will help design signage, collateral, and finesse copy, an accounting team that will help keep you on budget, on contract, and get vendors paid, and a leadership team that wants you to own the role and provide support in every way that we can.
