About the Position: 

This role requires mission-driven fundraising with a sales mentality.  The Director of Development will conduct outbound fundraising efforts by arranging calls and meetings with prospective & current clients.  This includes conducting the necessary research for marketing and business development activities including, but not limited to, building prospect lists, conducting targeted stakeholder research, and developing & working sales funnels.  This position requires working on multiple initiatives simultaneously in full cooperation with other Development professionals.  The ideal candidate will be hard-working, intrinsically motivated, have a positive attitude, and be an exceptional team player.

  • Assist with maintaining an up-to-date, well organized Salesforce database

  • Assist Events & Marketing teams with stakeholder sponsorship fulfillment and coordination

  • Conduct research, build prospect lists, and conduct outbound outreach efforts

  • Qualify and convert inbound and marketing generated leads into opportunities by ascertaining the scope and size of the organization and how we can fulfill their needs

  • Strategize within the Sales & Marketing teams to create and execute personalized campaigns to penetrate into our target market segments

  • Support multiple Notley program initiatives within defined territories and fundraising goals

  • Develop thorough market and program knowledge by engaging with clients

  • Relay market and program knowledge back to the greater Sales team through weekly updates and comprehensive note-taking in Salesforce

  • Report measurable sales activity on a weekly basis

  • Own client communications from start to finish, cultivating long-standing relationships and future opportunities

  • Travel required roughly once per month to support out of market business development programs


  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • 2-4 years’ experience in sales, fundraising, or development

  • Experience using CRM software

  • Excellent written, verbal and listening skills in English, which need to be demonstrable through email, phone calls, client webinars, internal meetings, and on-site presentations

  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities

  • Passionate self-starter who is motivated by achieving measurable results

  • Able to work both autonomously and also within a greater team environment

  • A questioning nature and the desire to learn (None of us know it all!  Being coachable and translating feedback into progress is vital)

  • Astute negotiation skills with a keen ability to handle client objections

  • Customer-obsessed
