Summary of Position

Nexon America is looking for a Data Scientist Intern to join our Data team for the 2024 summer internship program. This internship will provide valuable experience to learn how our data team is supporting our game business with data science and generative AI. You will be able to closely work with our data team members and stakeholders to understand the business goals and related data, build and evaluate models, provide the result with the models. During this process, you will also be able to learn how to deliver the value to the game business and help stakeholder’s decision making.

We are currently working in the office 2-3x a week in a hybrid work model.

The target start date for the internship program is 6/10 (40 hours/week) and the duration of the internship will vary between 8-12 weeks depending on the role.

Job Responsibilities

• Work closely with our Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Data Engineers, and stakeholders to understand business goals and the data

• Explorer our game and player data using SQL querying and data mining to understand players’ behavior and trends

• Build and evaluate machine learning or analytical models to support business goals

• Research trending generative AI technologies that can be used by Nexon’s game developers, players, and internal employees

Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification

• Enrolled in Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related technical field. An Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a relevant field would be preferred.

Knowledge/Skills

• Knowledge of statistical analysis

• Ability to extract data by writing SQL queries

• Solid understanding of the machine learning algorithms

• Experience building and evaluating machine learning models

• Proficient in Python

• LLM or other generative AI experience would be a plus

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Online gaming experience preferred

Compensation Description for Pay Transparency (hourly)

The base salary range for this position in El Segundo, CA is $20.00 - $22.00 hourly.

Our salary ranges are determined by market data based on position and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum salaries for that position.
