ABOUT THIS ROLE:
MOIC’s Theater Director will be responsible for conceiving, developing, and implementing the theatrical vision and focus of MOIC’s unique IRL experience. In this role, you will be responsible for writing, developing and producing the theatrical performance & stage direction for multiple MOIC experiences and will be required to create innovative productions that will be unique to each MOIC location globally. You must have a sensibility for hospitality and be able to implement techniques and practical applications for professional and amateur performance and service staff.
Consult, develop, ideate and establish imaginative, high quality, theater productions that are unique and individualized to each MOIC location.
Establish and produce an artistic vision that is satisfactory to the Museum of Ice Cream senior team.
Orchestrate the moving parts of a theatrical product - ie: costuming, lights, sound, actors & script into a full production.
Design every aspect of the production: plot, style, character, rhythm & mood.
Produce a series of a unique mini-productions multiple times a year (ie: opening night performances for new locations, holidays and special event series, etc.)
Stage block productions - conducive to MOIC’s designed spaces.
Adapt action around workable floor plans.
Lead rehearsals during pre-production and motivate actors and crew members.
Collaborate creatively with the MOIC technical crew.
Operate with a clear understanding of the MOIC narrative and brand mission.
4+ years of relevant experience
Ability to travel nationwide on short notice and temporarily relocate to each Museum of Ice Cream location
Ability to perform under pressure and in a fast-paced atmosphere
Strong comprehension of theatrical storytelling, pacing, and character development
Proven history of delivering quality work within a tight turnaround
Excellent verbal communication skills
A high-level awareness of theatre, arts and education practices
