Project Manager, Store Openings and Development

Job Description

The Project Manager of Store Development will be responsible for overseeing, managing and implementing new retail store openings, grand opening events, remodels and relocations. In addition, they will oversee repairs and maintenance for all retail stores and oversee service request submitted through Service Channel, as well as monitor vendor performance to ensure all work orders are performed effectively, on-time and within budget.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Oversee and project manage all aspects of the new store opening process, grand opening events, remodels and relocations
  • Up to 40% travel to store development locations for on-site support
  • Manage time, establish priorities and delegate tasks to effectively meet objectives
  • Manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously
  • Defines, documents and executes new store opening, relocations and remodels process tools to be utilized by corporate and field partners
  • Manage and oversee service all store Repairs & Maintenance requests
  • Monitor vendor performance to ensure work orders are performed effectively, on-time and within budget
  • Manage monthly maintenance budget responsibilities and new store operational budgets to meet or come under yearly goal
  • Proactively manage project execution and effectively manage project team conflicts, build collaborative partnerships with stakeholders and commitment to make key decisions
  • Prepares and maintains project plans and tracks activities against deadlines, providing regular and accurate reports as appropriate
  • Effectively communicate project status, escalate conflicts, recommend actions and determine priorities
  • Provide project leadership, assemble cross-functional teams, define roles and work direction, and provide feedback
  • Directs the cross-functional teams to complete activities in line with the new store, remodel, and relocation timelines via project stats meetings
  • Holds regular project reviews with manager
  • Maintains effective relationships with internal and external business partner teams
  • Complete special projects as assigned

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required
  • Minimum 5 years project management experience in retail management required
  • Ability to drive projects autonomously, with limited oversight
  • Ability to challenge decisions which may compromise operational standards and requirements, but respond pragmatically and in the best interests of the company
  • Ability to manage changing circumstances and priorities
  • Demonstrated process development implementation experience
  • Excellent project, time management, planning, delegation, follow-up and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to perform well under pressure
  • Great work ethic and must be organized, and adept at prioritizing and juggling multiple projects at once to deadlines
  • Effective problem solver, leader and sound decision maker; proactive approach to all tasks and projects and shows initiative to drive results
  • Must have a positive attitude, flexible and the ability to work and communicate with all levels of management
  • Ability to achieve results by motivating and inspiring others effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop relationships with internal and external partners effectively
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Travel required (up to 40%); a valid driver’s license required
