We are looking for a Senior Full stack Javascript (MERN) Engineer to work on our flagship Fathom learning platform. In addition, you have the opportunity to work on client projects with companies like Google, FedEx, Twitter and others. 

You will be expected to play a key role in designing, developing, testing and supporting new features and enhancing existing features as Fathom evolves and scales to meet customers’ needs.

This role may begin as full-time permanent or contract-to-hire, and contract-only candidates will be considered.

You are a perfect fit if you:

• Can work independently to implement product requirements that potentially involve both backend and front end development

• Have experience working with a MERN stack

• Are adept at identifying and resolving technical issues 

• Have familiarity with Docker (or other containerization technology) and Kubernetes

• Understand high-scale, asynchronous event-driven systems

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deliver and then support working software

• Actively participate in technical design activities on both Fathom and client-centric projects

• Apply your detailed knowledge of software tools and techniques in relevant discussions

• Mentor and teach other less-experienced engineers

• Improve our processes to make them quicker and more deterministic

• Foster amazing communication and collaborate with peers

Requirements

• 5+ years of direct software development experience

• Knowledge of modern software development processes (scrum, kanban)

• Test-first, test-centric work approach - we only have time to build things once

• Extensive experience with one or more of: Node.Js, MongoDB, React or Material

• Experience with redis and PostgreSQL databases (or similar) and reporting

• A passion for cloud software architecture and development

• Understanding of corporate learning and training, including SCORM and xAPI is a plus
