3d Generalist

Art | San Francisco, CA | Full Time, Contract, and Temp to Perm

Job Description - a thriving online social entertainment community with over eight million registered users - is looking for a 3d Generalist with intermediate knowledge of modeling, texturing, and skinning in 3D Studio Max. You will be working with all members of the art team (animators, producer, artists, director) to create and publish game assets for both print and for use in our proprietary game engine. Candidate must be able to work on site, and is required to submit a portfolio link upon application.


  • High level of working independence, with emphasis on organization and time management

  • Proficient in vertex based weight painting and skinning

  • Skilled in digital/traditional retouching and texture painting

  • UV layout proficiency (we do not auto UV anything)

  • Expert proficiency in 3d Studio Max and Photoshop

  • Two years experience in 3d modeling and texturing or academic equivalent

Scope of Work:

  • Report to the Art Director, but also work closely with the producer to brainstorm and finalize a fashion release (production, testing, publishing).

  • Model low poly meshes under 500 tris to match style of

  • Hand paint low resolution textures (512x512) to match style of and our partners

  • Skin assets to a biped rig

  • Export and make assets live on our QA servers for preliminary testing and approval

Nice to Have:

  • Interest in fashion and fashion trends.

  • Good eye for silhouette, composition, and color.

  • Good understanding of character topology with regards to animation.


This is a 1 month freelance opportunity, 40 hours per week, with possibility to hire full time in San Francisco. It is an ON-SITE ONLY position. There will be an art test if you are chosen from the pool of candidates.
