Sr. Systems Engineer - Professional Services Team

Los Angeles based MediaPlatform®, the industry leader for best-in-class webcasting and media management technology, is seeking an experienced Professional Services Engineer to join our team.   Media Platform’s® software products enable our customers to create high impact lead generation, corporate communication and training programs while leveraging the advantages of scalable cloud based computing or on premise deployment, presentation and management of rich media.  The company helps clients derive long term archive value from their investment in content.

Working closely with our Director of Professional Services, the Sr Systems Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the seamless integration of MediaPlatform’s products and services in our partners’ and clients’ environments as well as providing expert guidance in choosing and implementing the right technologies and performing troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.

He or she will also contribute to our core operations services and help develop strategies to improve automation, availability and performance of supporting web application servers along with monitoring and alerting.

Our ideal team member is a seasoned and customer focused engineer with prior DevOps/Systems Administrator experience who is comfortable with his or her existing scripting skills, has extensive experience with Amazon Web Services, configuration management using Puppet/Ansible, virtualization, and release management (Jenkins, GitHub).

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters in relevant discipline or combination of education and professional experience
  • 5+ years of Linux administration experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, experience in engaging with customers (highly technical teams/individuals from our business clients)
  • In depth understanding of Linux/UNIX fundamentals including kernel subsystems, system calls, inter-process communication, process/resource management and file systems
  • Knowledge of IP networking, VPN's, DNS, load balancing and firewalling.
  • Configuration Management with Puppet / Ansible
  • Strong scripting skills, i.e. Python, Perl, Bash, PHP
  • Monitoring and alerting with Zabbix, Nagios and AWS CloudWatch
  • Demonstrated expert problem analysis and problem solving skills
  • Administration in an environment with 100+ systems
  • Solid grasp of Amazon Web Services - EC2 / EBS / S3 / SES / EBS / RDS / Route 53
  • Release management with Jenkins / GitHub
  • Extensive knowledge of Apache web server, including performance tuning for web applications
  • Experience with MySQL, MongoDB, Redis and Active MQ as well as database fundamentals

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with live and on-demand video and webcasting technologies
  • Configuring and setting up Adobe Media Server and/or Wowza
  • Windows administration experience
