Every day one of our volunteers makes a significant difference in the life of a Mays Hospice patient. Mays Hospice feels that no one should die alone! The hours you give to Mays Hospice families and patients can be the most rewarding experience of your life.

Mays Hospice needs volunteers like you to fill numerous volunteer activities in Southeastern Oklahoma.

Tasks may Include:

  • Providing companion visits
  • Running errands or shopping for groceries
  • Preparing light meals
  • Straightening linen
  • Walking the dog
  • Assisting ambulatory patient to the bathroom
  • Writing a letter
  • Making phone calls
  • Visiting the shut-ins
  • Assisting with hobbies
  • Playing dominos or games
  • Watering plants
  • Assisting with occasional household chores
  • Assisting patients in a wheelchair
  • Reading to the patient
  • Being a family friend
  • Office duties

Requirements:

Anyone 18 or over can be a volunteer! Any professional person, homemaker, senior, and so on can give a little of their time to help someone else. It is a Medicare requirement that volunteers be utilized in Hospice Care. Volunteers must be utilized in 5% of patient care, so volunteers are very important to hospice patients.
