The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team at MassMutual Northern Virginia. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing our financial records and ensuring the accuracy of our financial transactions. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles and a passion for maintaining financial integrity.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records by recording all transactions in the general ledger.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports to support management decision-making.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure accounts are balanced on a regular basis.
  • Assist with payroll processing and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Help prepare for audits by providing necessary documentation and reports as requested.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role, preferably within a financial services environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Excel.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience with financial analysis and budgeting.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards in the financial industry.
  • Certifications such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or similar.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
