FT Regulatory/ Compliance Assistant

Job Description

MMTC is a thriving healthcare organization for treatment of substance use disorders (SUD)/Addictions and Co-occurring disorders. We offer a full continuum of levels of care for adults and young adults, including inpatient/residential, intensive outpatient (IOP), outpatient (OP), outpatient mental health clinic (OMHC). We have an enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team of counselors, physicians, technicians, and therapists with a collaborative work environment.

We are looking for a FT Regulatory/ Compliance Assistant to join our Baltimore Team.

The Specialist works under the direction of the Corporate Compliance Officer to ensure that MMTC remains up-to-date on applicable healthcare regulatory and licensing requirements in accordance with MMTC, state, and federal regulations. These responsibilities include to develop, implement, and enforce healthcare policies and procedures that keep MMTC’s services, processes, and physical sites operating in a legal and ethical manner to: (1) ensure that MMTC, establishes and maintains an effective, best practices compliance and integrity program, (2) promote ethical practices and compliances with the law while preventing and detecting violations and other misconduct, (4) ensure that findings of non-compliance and of weaknesses in the compliance and integrity program are responded to promptly and effectively, (5) conduct electronic health record (EHR) review and analysis of billing compliance auditing, qualitative quarterly chart reviews; and preparation of data review/auditing reports. Additional skills needed include: Critical Reasoning - able to interpret complex information, think logically and analytically to problem-solve on a daily basis; People Skills - be even-keeled, possess self-awareness, and base decisions on analysis of fact; Research - Have solid research skills to find reliable sources to uncover information and respond to questions quickly and accurately; Prioritization - Possess strong time management and prioritization skills to deal with competing compliance initiatives and mandates.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ability to research, access, interpret, and recommend action on applicable State (COMAR) /local regulations, CMS, and Joint Commission regulations and standards
  • Experience with health care audits including the review of billing/CPT & ICD-10 coding, qualitative review against health care regulations and standards
  • Report design and preparation to present audit findings, annual reports
  • Assist program directors with corrective action reports to regulatory agencies
  • Experience with MS Office applications to ensure systems in place for tracking, monitoring, and data reporting of compliance audit results, corrective action plans, and recommendations for various committee reporting
  • Assist in providing regulatory documentation/billing direction/recommendations to senior leadership, program clinicians and directors for regulatory compliance
  • Serve as back-up corporate wide trainer for Compliance Officer on Compliance, HIPAA, EHR clinical and billing documentation, and regulations/standards for routine and special staff training.
  • Assist with writing and preparing compliance procedures and policies in line with regulatory requirements
  • Works Collaboratory with staff from patient accounts, clinical, administrative, state/federal reviewers/surveyors, and patients.

Education:

  • Early to mid-career candidates considered in Health Information Management (HIM), health care, and healthcare compliance field.
  • At least an AA (BS/BA preferred) in health-related field applicable to healthcare compliance field.

Experience

  • Early- to mid-career candidates considered. Experience with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel database preferred. Preferred candidates with experience in the addiction/mental health services field.
