Experienced Plumber

Operations | Roanoke, VA | Full Time | From $23.00 to $32.00 per hour

Job Description

Position: Experienced Plumber

Overview:
We’re seeking a skilled plumber to take the lead on maintenance, repair, and installation projects across a variety of systems including piping, gas, water, drainage, and mechanical equipment. This role involves hands-on work, project leadership, and coordination to ensure work meets all codes and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform emergency, routine, and preventative maintenance on plumbing and piping systems, including gas lines, fixtures, and mechanical systems.

  • Lead specialty projects and coordinate tasks to ensure timely, code-compliant completion.

  • Interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and specifications to execute installations and repairs accurately.

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair plumbing and mechanical systems using appropriate tools and testing equipment.

  • Plan installations, secure permits, and complete all required testing and inspections.

  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance as needed.

  • Maintain detailed records of work performed, including documentation related to work orders, blueprints, and manuals.

  • Stay current with regulations and recommend improvements based on emerging tools, materials, and best practices.

  • Support training efforts to enhance team capabilities and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational training or coursework in plumbing and blueprint reading preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in residential or commercial plumbing maintenance.

  • Licensing: Must obtain Journeyman or Master Plumbing License within 24 months of hire. Valid Virginia Driver’s License preferred; required for Property Maintenance roles.

  • Other Skills:

    • Strong familiarity with Virginia and hospital plumbing codes.

    • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

    • Comfortable using computerized work order systems.

    • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.

    • May be required to provide basic maintenance tools.

Additional Information:

  • This position is classified as emergency personnel and may be required to report during emergencies.

  • Must be flexible to work across multiple facilities and provide own transportation if needed.
