Location: New York, NY
Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive, Based on Experience

About the Role

We’re looking for a sharp, detail-driven Controller with proven experience at a General Contractor. This is a key leadership role with a direct impact on company financials, strategy, and growth. You'll take full ownership of accounting operations, ensure accuracy across all job costing and WIP tracking, and provide critical insights to executive leadership.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead all corporate accounting functions, including job cost analysis, WIP schedules, backlog monitoring, and financial reporting.

  • Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.

  • Collaborate with project managers and senior leadership to deliver real-time financial updates and job performance metrics.

  • Ensure that all financial practices are compliant and that internal controls and systems operate efficiently.

  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process and help shape long-term financial planning.

What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves:

  • Direct experience working for a General Contractor – no exceptions.

  • Deep knowledge of construction accounting, including job costing, WIP, backlog, and GAAP standards.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and manage an accounting team.

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with Procore and Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate (or similar platforms).

  • CPA designation.

  • High-level communication and strategic thinking skills.

Why This Role Stands Out

This isn’t a back-office role—it’s a seat at the table. You’ll play a central part in guiding the financial strategy of a growing General Contractor, with direct visibility to senior decision-makers. If you have strong construction accounting experience and want to be in a role where your insights drive operational decisions, this is that role. Competitive salary, forward-thinking tech stack, and significant career growth potential included.
