The Program - Overview

Job Description: The Associate Rotation Program, known internally as the “Ventures Group,” is the predominant entry point to MMC and our family of companies for recent graduates of M.B.A. or master’s degree programs with a real estate focus. Associates in the Program have a unique opportunity to explore various functions within the real estate industry (including acquisitions, development, marketing, asset management, and finance), and to work for companies that focus on a variety of sectors (office, retail, multifamily, single-family, and net lease) before committing to a specific position.

Venture Associates generally begin with a rotation at the holding company (MMC), followed by rotations in selected companies. Rotation assignments are based on corporate needs as well as, to the extent possible, the Associates’ interests. On average, Associates complete three to six rotations of three to four months each before being placed at one of our family of companies. Placements are based on mutual fit and interest and may occur throughout the rotation cycles.

During the rotations, the responsibilities may include preparing investment packages, conducting due diligence on potential acquisitions or development deals, assessing market opportunities and feasibility for new business ventures and strategies, assisting in project-level financing, and many other challenging assignments.

While in the Program, Associates have opportunities to meet and interact with senior management, participate in investment committee meetings, and gain first-hand exposure to our family of companies. Associates are encouraged to plan social outings to network with one another and share experiences with colleagues throughout the Company.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have either an M.B.A. or a master’s degree (with a real estate focus)
  • At least 3 years of business experience; prior real estate experience is required
  • Prior experience from a venture capital firm is ideal

Geography:

  • Associates typically start in the Company’s Palo Alto headquarters; rotations are in both our Silicon Valley and East Bay offices. Southern California placements may also be available.
