Job Description:

We are looking for experienced and driven Technical Project Managers with deep expertise in Microsoft technologies. The ideal candidate brings a strong delivery mindset, hands-on leadership, and the ability to manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment.

This role involves full ownership of engineering delivery for key customer accounts. Responsibilities include leading a team of 30 to 60 engineers, ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery across multiple concurrent projects.

Involvement spans solution design, technical reviews, and customer interactions. This role requires acting as a trusted advisor, influencing decisions, and shaping outcomes.

As the organization scales from 1,500 to 2,500 engineers globally, this role will contribute to delivery process improvements, team expansion, and account growth.

Your key result areas as a percentage of your overall work items will be:


Delivery Ownership for Business Groups (20%)

  • Own end-to-end delivery for assigned business group(s), ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with customer goals and expectations.
  • Act as the single point of accountability for delivery success — including scope, schedule, effort, risk, and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Drive definition, refinement, and execution of project requirements and feature sets in collaboration with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Review and approve project deliverables across all dimensions — including functionality, usability, security, architecture, code quality, scalability, and performance.
  • Ensure delivery predictability and consistency across multiple concurrent projects, with approximately 12 releases annually.
  • Promote the use of AI copilots, code generation tools, and automation frameworks to enhance developer velocity and reduce time-to-deliver.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to automate testing, deployments, documentation, and monitoring to streamline engineering workflows.
  • Track and communicate improvements in developer velocity enabled through internal tooling, platform accelerators, and AI-enhanced delivery practices.
  • Proactively identify risks and blockers, take corrective actions to avoid delivery slippage.
  • Track and report project progress with relevant metrics, status updates, and executive-level summaries.

Technical Architecture and Problem Solving (20%)

  • Provide hands-on leadership in defining and refining solution architectures, technical designs, and implementation approaches for complex enterprise systems.
  • Actively contribute to architecture and design decisions, particularly for key modules, integrations, and customer-facing components.
  • Guide the team in selecting and applying appropriate modern cloud architectures, including Azure PaaS offerings, microservices, event-driven designs, and data platforms.
  • Ensure security, performance, scalability, and maintainability are embedded into the architecture from the outset.
  • Participate in detailed code reviews and design validations for critical deliverables — ensuring engineering quality, reusability, and alignment with architectural standards.
  • Drive technical problem solving by working directly with developers, leads, and QA — especially during design bottlenecks, production incidents, and performance tuning.
  • Identify and incorporate opportunities to integrate AI (e.g., copilots, ML models, LLM-based features) into customer solutions where relevant.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and patterns, and ensure technical strategies evolve with industry trends and customer expectations.

Team Management and Development (20%)

  • Lead a dedicated team of 30 to 60 software engineers, working closely with team members on delivery execution, technical design, and issue resolution.
  • Align team members effectively across multiple parallel projects, matching responsibilities with skills, expertise, and business priorities to ensure timely and successful delivery.
  • Provide hands-on guidance during key phases of projects — from sprint planning and estimation to code reviews and release management.
  • Build and nurture high-performance, AI-first teams that embrace modern engineering practices, automation, and continuous improvement.
  • Actively mentor engineers and emerging technical leads, enabling them to take ownership of solution design, delivery quality, and team coordination.
  • Conduct bi-annual performance reviews with a focus on feedback, coaching, and capability development.
  • Visit Redmond and other India-based teams annually to strengthen cross-site collaboration, reinforce team alignment, and drive shared outcomes.

Customer Engagement (25%)

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customer stakeholders, acting as a strategic partner rather than just a delivery lead.
  • Engage proactively with customers to understand evolving business goals, shape solution roadmaps, and align delivery priorities with long-term outcomes.
  • Represent our engineering capabilities with credibility and clarity in technical discussions, planning sessions, and stakeholder reviews.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor, guiding customers on architecture decisions, platform adoption (including AI and cloud-native services), and modernization strategies.
  • Drive account growth by identifying whitespace opportunities, influencing backlog planning, and bringing in the right internal expertise at the right time.
  • Provide technical pre-sales support, including solutioning, estimation, proposal reviews, and stakeholder presentations.
  • Respond to 12–24 RFPs annually, crafting project plans and detailed effort estimates in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Recruitment, Process Innovation, and Training (15%)

  • Lead the hiring of high-potential engineers with strong learnability, adaptability, and a growth mindset — not just predefined technical skill sets.
  • Conduct an average of 10 interviews per week, ensuring a rigorous, fair, and scalable evaluation process in collaboration with technical leads.
  • Drive onboarding and capability-building programs, including intensive technical bootcamps for 40+ recent Computer Science graduates annually.
  • Mentor and coach experienced hires (10+ per year) to accelerate their ramp-up and alignment with engineering and delivery standards.
  • Spearhead practical innovations in engineering processes — including Agile execution models, quality gates, CI/CD pipelines, and tooling automation.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through structured knowledge-sharing, internal tech talks, and lessons-learned forums.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science engineering, or a related field from a reputed university; an MBA from a top-tier institute (IIM or equivalent) is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Proven experience in leading software engineering teams, with a strong focus on delivery ownership, technical excellence, and team development.
  • Hands-on experience in IT or software services firms, with exposure to enterprise-scale solution delivery.
  • Deep technical expertise in the Microsoft platform.
  • Capable of collaborating on solution design, reviewing technical deliverables, and enabling AI-first, cloud-native practices.
  • Ability to manage two to five concurrent projects, balancing delivery, stakeholder communication, and team velocity.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with international customers — engaging proactively, shaping solutions, and influencing delivery roadmaps.
  • Strong orientation toward engineering process excellence — including agile practices, automation, code quality, and release management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills — comfortable engaging with both engineering teams and senior business stakeholders.
