Digital Literacy Instructor (Part-time)

Many Languages One Voice (MLOV), was founded in 2010, and our mission is to foster the leadership and greater civic participation of immigrants and refugees who do not speak English as a primary language. We believe an actively engaged community that challenges existing inequities by dominant power is key to achieving systemic change. Thus, we support our members’ leadership and amplify the voice of our most vulnerable members to find solutions to the systemic racial inequities that impact their lives.


Digital Literacy Instructor Assistant: The MLOV Digital Literacy Program Instructor will be responsible for planning and implementing lessons for our Digital Literacy Program. The program is 7-week long, twice per week, two hours per day, and is aimed at teaching basic digital literacy skills (computer functions, web browsing, email, MS Word, MS Powerpoint, etc.) to adults. Duties include delivering group instruction, providing 1 on 1 support during and outside of the session, goal setting with participants, and promoting participant goal accomplishments.

This is an hourly temporary position from March 2024 - December 2024, with the possibility of extension. Payment for this role is commensurable with experience and at least $25 per hour. Hours for this position are mostly evenings 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm twice per week, and prep and occasional team meetings at other times as needed.


Overview of responsibilities:

  • The Digital Literacy Instructor will be responsible for the implementation of digital literacy lessons for adults on topics provided by MLOV;
  • Prepare lessons using resources provided by MLOV and obtained through own research;
  • Conduct program set-up and tear-down before and after session;
  • Collaborate in the development of lesson plans;
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all participants during lessons;
  • Maintain communication with other MLOV staff;
  • Adhere to all program and MLOV organizational policies.


An ideal candidate characteristic:

  • At least some post-secondary studies with focus in education, sociology, social work, STEM, or related fields;
  • At least 1 year of experience working with immigrant communities;
  • Understanding of adult literacy and experience delivering instruction to adults either in group or
  • individual setting;
  • Fluency in a language other than English, with a preference for Spanish;
  • Possesses or willing to obtain the following background checks.
    • Current check from Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
    • Current check from Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Criminal Background Check, and
    • Current check from National Sex Offender Registry (NSO).
  • Is a self-starter, motivated and organized;
  • Team player and excellent communication skills;
