Product Software Engineering Manager

Job Summary:

The Product Software Engineering Manager at Lytics is responsible for leading a diverse group of technologies including our web application, JavaScript SDKs, data visualization libraries, and API development and standardization. In this role, you’ll be leading a team of talented and creative engineers that brings the visualization of critical and insightful features to marketers. Your primary partners in this role will be other Engineering managers and our outstanding Product team. Our Product Engineering team is at the core of our Engineering organization and interfaces closely with our Data Science, Integrations, and Data Engineering teams. This position also works closely with Customer Success and Account Management teams to incorporate critical feedback and drive innovation.

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you are the owner of customer-facing features that help the Lytics platform continue to drive differentiation in the marketplace and growth. The primary responsibility of the Product Software Engineering Manager is to provide hands-on leadership for the development team.  As a people manager, you will understand how to remove roadblocks and provide an environment where each of your individual contributors can maximize their productivity.  You also balance the challenges of accountability in a fast moving organization and striving for a high level of satisfaction and motivation among your team.

Essential Functions:

  • Actively mentor and support the career growth of individuals on your team

  • Organize people, and work, around a common goal based on business and engineering objectives

  • Contribute to product development through feature development, code reviews, and QA/debugging.

  • Ability to think critically about processes and collaboratively improve them

  • Foster technical decision making on the team, and make final decisions when necessary


  • At least five years of software development experience in front-end web application development

  • At least one year experience managing, coaching, and mentoring software engineers

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and a commitment to adapt to the best methodology that works for the team

  • Demonstrated ability to build robust and scalable software, contribute to architecture discussions, participate in brainstorming sessions, work with the product team to understand end-user requirements, and deliver results.

  • Deep sense of ownership. You take responsibility for the success of the engineering team.


  • Solid development experience in modern Javascript frameworks, such as React or Ember 

  • Experience with one or more strongly typed language (Go, Java, etc.).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to apply these skills in written and verbal modes of communication with both technical and non-technical users

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or relevant experience
