Job Description

About Us:

Lumencor, Inc., based in Beaverton, Oregon, manufactures high-performance solid state lighting subsystems, "light engines," for bioanalytical instruments, medical devices and life science research tools. Products are sold worldwide to equipment manufacturers (OEMs), distributors, laboratories and individual researchers.

Lumencor is seeking a Controller to manage and direct accounting and financial activities that will assist management and the Board in making economic decisions about the company’s future.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and supervise the activities of the Company’s Accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, all aspects of the Receivables, Payables and Payroll functions, and internal and external monthly financial statements.
  • Prepare balance sheets, profit & loss, cash flow statements and other financial reports.
  • Lead month-end closing cycle and complete balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as accounting activities, including cash and credit management, payroll, and inventory management.
  • Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
  • Coordinate annual financial audit.
  • Lead the organization in manufacturing cost accounting implementation.
  • Maintain internal systems and controls that verify the integrity of systems, processes, and data.
  • Prepare, support or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources.
  • Analyze the financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed.
  • Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
  • Monitor financial activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels, to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Respond to Finance Director as assigned with accurate and timely work to help facilitate financial needs.
  • Oversight, mentoring and cross-training of accounting staff.
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile any necessary data and/or reports.


This role is an on-site, full-time, salaried position in which it is expected employee will report to work daily, during regular business hours to fulfill assigned work duties.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in accounting
  • Accounting/Finance in manufacturing: 5 years
  • Supervisory: 3 years


Preferred Experience and Training:

  • Requires deadline driven, high-energy individual, able to work autonomously and lead as key contributor on teams.
  • The individual will be expected to be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the accounting and finance field, including cost accounting.
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks, MS Excel, Word, and Outlook, and the ability to multi-task with moderate supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, strong interpersonal skills are a must, as well as willingness to accept and task ownership of new responsibilities in a fast-growing environment.
