Product Designer

Web Development | Brooklyn, NY | Full Time, Part Time, and Contract

Job Description

The Position

The Loove is looking for a Product Designer who is excited to take on the challenge of producing interfaces for our fair-trade music platform that strike a balance between usability and being original, disruptive, and challenging.

Our ideal candidate has a keen aesthetic sense and brings an extensive knowledge of established design principles as well as a willingness to subvert them at will. Interest in or knowledge of music and the music industry is a plus.

Our Product Designer will work closely with our Product Manager and Front End Lead to translate concepts and requirements into design briefs, wireframes, and comps. This is not just building pretty pages - although that will be a part of it - you’ll be helping us find ways to communicate our principles at a deep level with every interaction you work on.

The Loove

The Loove is a Brooklyn-based music-tech startup with roots in arts activism, along with a label, studio and production space. We’re using technology to reshape the marketplace for the arts around a fair trade model: help cultural institutions to create opportunities for artists, help artists gain access to resources, and give supporters more control over the nature and beneficiaries of their support.

We’re examining the way transactions are conducted in our industry, rethinking the meaning of content and the methods for its presentation: exploring ways to serve music within the context of the work processes and collaboration that brought it into being. We are taking inspiration from fair-trade and non-profit models, as well as the art market.
