Experience Designer

Job Description

The Position

The Loove is looking for a Experience Designer who is ready to take a central role in the product development process for our music platform, to be responsible for taking ideas and broad conceptual requirements and turning them into value for our company, our clients, and our audiences.

Our Experience Designer will work closely and proactively with our Product Manager and Engineers to oversee the user experience of a suite of products from conception to launch. They will design flows and experiences that are not only engaging, but will communicate our principles at a deep level.

Our ideal candidate has a keen aesthetic sense and brings an extensive knowledge of established design principles as well as a willingness to subvert them at will. Interest in or knowledge of music and the internal mechanisms of the music industry are a plus.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Create a visually beautiful and satisfying product and interactive experience

  • Ensure a consistency in the look and feel across all stages of user experience

  • Produce superb quality design work in-line with business goals, design priorities, deadlines and processes

  • Revise designs based on data, analytics and business goals and refine design processes as needed

  • Conceptualize and iterate high-fidelity designs and prototypes while confidently making design decisions alongside a team of designers, project managers, and developers

  • Work within existing brand guidelines to create layouts that reinforce a brand’s style or voice through its visual touchpoints

  • Understand and integrate user needs and motivations into specific areas of a design that contribute to UX KPIs and business requirements

  • Understand and value the practice of design iteration by always experimenting, evaluating, and learning

  • Synthesize and refine qualitative and quantitative data into visually depicting stories that are understandable and impactful to stakeholders, and end users

  • Effectively communicate design rationale

  • Facilitate design sessions and use iterative design techniques to synthesize findings and feedback into an informed experience strategy and design.

  • Collaborate with team members across multiple disciplines to define the people value relative to business value, balance technical complexity with digital first design, and understand considerations and approach for designing for desired behaviors in the future state.



Requirements:

Must be creative and innovative with great visual design sensibilities. Must be able to understand the way transactions are made in the media space as we are looking to refactor them in a way that’s informative and beneficial to all participants (i.e. take a fresh look at these core functions: sales, streaming, editorial displace, etc.) are set up.

An understanding of branding and visual voice is key. Must have a keen eye for detail, consistency.  This position must also be able to thrive and communicate in a fast-paced, constantly changing startup environment. Additional qualifications include:

  • 4+ years of design experience (web/mobile/digital products) product design, UX/UI design, interaction design

  • Strong online portfolio that exhibits expertise in visual design, UI/UX, and application work

  • Attention to detail and possess impeccable, cutting-edge visual design skills (including layout, grid systems, typography, iconography, and color) for digital experiences

  • You’re fascinated by people, their motivations, and desires relating to the design problem

  • Ability to synthesize complex, interdependent, and sometimes competing needs

  • Ability to influence others and provide thought leadership on design

  • Actively listen, hear and understand what is said and not said, and with nuanced comprehension of meaning and intent

  • Ability to work well with a team of diverse colleagues and client stakeholders

  • Show strong understanding of design tools such as Sketch, OmniGraffle, Photoshop, Creative Suite/InDesign and Illustrator

  • Proven ability to deliver strong design product and partner effectively with engineers

  • Comfort and ability to thrive within an iterative design process, balancing expediency with quality of design

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to pitch user-centered design scenarios clearly

  • Keen ability to consider and incorporate feedback
