Director of Community Development

Sales & Marketing | San Francisco, CA

Job Description

Localmind is looking for an experienced community development director to join us full-time in San Francisco. For the right person, this is the biggest opportunity of your life knocking. Seriously.

Who are we?

Robert Scoble picked Localmind as the best new startup at SXSW this year. The NY Times called it "The Future of Local Crowdsourcing". Winner of the Startup Showcase at O'Reilly Where 2.0, and one of the hottest apps in the iTunes app store. Localmind is a real-time Q&A platform built on top of check-in services and always-on location data. We give you the ability to send questions to people checked in around your city to find out how crowded a bar is, how long the security line is, or whether the wifi us up at the coffee shop. Omniscience at your fingertips. We're building mind-blowing stuff, and we're looking for the right people to join us right now to take this to the next level.

What you'll get to do:

Up to now we've done a solid job getting the word out, engaging with our users, and building community around the world. But now it's time to bring in the real firepower: someone to join us in the trenches, who eats, sleeps, and breathes Localmind, who won't stop until every living, breathing smartphone user has our app on their home screen. We truly believe Localmind makes people's lives better and makes the world a better place! Help us make this happen.

What we'll expect of you:

This is a startup position. You will be a critical early employee on a killer team. For us, cultural fit is just as important as hard skills. You don't need traditional bonafides to work with us, but you do need passion, guts, alacrity, enthusiasm, and heart. You'll be a big part of what we're building, and we hope to learn as much from you as you do from us.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Helping build up critical mass in specific metropolitan areas (San Francisco, New York, internationally, etc.)
  • Engaging with our users, continuously gathering feedback on the product and the experience so that we can continue evolving in the right direction
  • Advising on strategy around marketing efforts and product launches
  • Brainstorming new product features to make them stickier with users
  • Rethinking product features, finding ways to improve or replace them
  • User research to quantitatively decide what works and what doesn't

Please be ready to show us communities you've built before, how your experience relates to Localmind, and why you think you'd be a good fit.
