Job Description

Monroe & Kent is an online home furnishings & decor retailer that operates a basic premise - "High end home furnishings and decor at prices you'll love!" 

As a part of our continued growth we are seeking a Public Relations intern as part of our 2018 Internship Program to join us during the Spring or Summer college semester.


The successful candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Highly organized, with an ability to plan priorities and adapt as requirements change

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral with an ability to professionally converse over email as well as on the phone (if you are phone shy, this is not the role for you)

  • Inquisitive & curious mind that is always seeking how something can be done better

  • Currently studying for a Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, PR, Fashion, Design or similar

  • Able to commit a minimum 10 hours per week

  • Experience of using Google Apps, such as Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets & Slides

  • General interest in home furnishings, interior design or decor.


  • Influencer relations

  • Securing placements with influencers that fit our profile through telephone and email pitching

  • Develop comeptitive intel for Social Media team through researching competitor activitives

  • Monitor trends and industry news and package findings into briefings for team members to ensure Monroe & Kent is aligned where it needs to be in a fast moving industry

  • Draft and submit news releases via services like PR Newswire relevant and interesting stories as they relate to Monroe & Kent

  • Cultivate relationships with vendor marketing teams and collaborate where possible with wider PR initiatives.

This is an unpaid internship position, however you will qualify for course credit and discounts on merchandise.
