Job Description:

Lighthouse is one part-time (30 hrs/week) Front Desk Specialist to support our Pontiac based PATH Transitional Housing program for women and children. PATH is a two year long supportive housing program that works with families transitioning out of homelessness and into long-term stability. Our Front Desk Specialist will help ensure the safety and security of the PATH residents by conducting screenings into the building and serving as onsite support for any needs or issues. The Front Desk Specialist will also assist in carrying out the daily operations of the PATH program including answering and transferring calls and general office operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and screen all visitors, including clients, promptly and warmly,

  • Manage phones and direct callers appropriately,

  • Perform brief, over the phone crisis resolution interventions with community members seeking services,

  • Keep track of all calls for services in our shared tracking system

  • Perform pre-screens and background checks on individuals seeking shelter

  • Provide over the phone shelter and housing referrals to callers when our shelter is at capacity

  • Keep track of all calls for services in our shared tracking system

  • Sort and manage client mail and other light clerical work,

  • Respond to resident requests and assist with conflict resolution between residents,

  • Provide crisis intervention as needed and complete incident reports as required,

  • Routinely monitor cameras/surveillance equipment to ensure the safety of residents and buildings,

  • Perform weekly inspections of onsite units (townhomes, single family homes and apartments) and document inspections,

  • Complete all necessary paperwork and data entry thoroughly and on a timely basis including HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) data in call point and SPDAT, Link 2 Feed, daily homeless logs, daily stats sheet, client records, daily house logs and other paperwork as assigned.

  • Assist with new resident move-in coordination and apartment readiness as needed,

  • Attend trainings and workshops to enhance professional development,

  • Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and client team meetings,

  • Implement and enforce agency and office policies and values to maintain a safe, client-centered, and inclusive environment for clients, volunteers, and staff, and

  • Perform other office related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum requirement of a High School Diploma; Associate’s Degree, preferred.

  • Lived experience or professional experience working with low-income individuals and families,

  • Some knowledge of the social services landscape in Oakland County and surrounding areas, preferred.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Strong conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to problem solve and stay calm in stressful situations,

  • Flexible working style with the ability to adapt to a changing environment, 

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

  • Drivers clearance

  • Child Welfare Clearance

  • CPR Certification

  • Reliable transportation
