The Opportunity

Temporary Instructional Aide/Support Instructor (Regularly ASP Instructor) - 

Competencies, Responsibilities, and Qualifications

Lighthouse Community Charter School is looking for a Instructional Aide/Support Instructor who will work one on one and with small groups of students to support academic and behavioral interventions and learning needs. This position is a good fit for someone looking to develop their skills working with students and potentially the first step in a pathway to teaching through our teacher residency program.  Your responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver individual and small group instructional and academic supports, behavioral, speech and language supports that improve students’ learning and increase student engagement in order to close skill gaps and support students’ progress towards mastery of grade-level standards.

  • Consistently implement support plans for all identified students to maximize success for all students,

  • Supports teachers in maintaining a classroom culture ideal for student learning by implementing preferred Lighthouse strategies and systems.

  • Effectively support teachers in the implementation of Lighthouse’s preferred pedagogies and assessment methods.

  • Provide daily and/or weekly support for individual teacher and grade level preparation, grading, attendance and engagement tracking, as assigned.

  • Collaborate weekly with teachers to identify, monitor progress through formal documentation methods, and collaboratively develop supports to match individual student needs.

  • Collaborate with teachers and other service providers to monitor progress, identify, select students to receive IA supports and adjust practices and develop supports to match small group and individual student needs.

  • Communicate with families as needed to discuss progress and growth areas

  • Provide support in learning practices of personal care and social integration

  • Attend and actively participate in professional development activities, team and staff meetings to promote professional learning.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A.A. required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • At least two years of student support, instructional aide, or paraprofessional experience working in a school setting preferred

  • At least two years working with youth in tutoring or school setting preferred

  • Bilingual in Spanish a Plus

 

SUPERVISION

This position reports to Assistant Principal and/or ASP Program Supervisor.


TIME COMMITMENT

This position is a temporary full-time (1.0 FTE), salaried non-exempt 10-month (190 day) role through May 2021. Opportunities to continue in an Instructional Aide or ASP Instructor position during the summer or following school year available.

Common Building Hours:  8:00-4:00 pm M-F.
