THE OPPORTUNITY

The realization of our mission to prepare students for college and career can only be actualized when we are fully enrolled at each of our school sites and students who are historically underrepresented are aware of our high quality schools. The Enrollment and Outreach Coordinator’s primary skill set includes the ability to excite families about our quality education offerings, motivate interested families to apply our family of schools and create and execute strategies to ensure full enrollment at each of our sites. This includes creating enrollment materials, canvassing the community, leading information sessions and tours for interested families and supporting families through the enrollment and  matriculation process.  All of this is in service of LCPS’ mission and vision.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Community Outreach

    • Be the face of recruiting events with the external community to best inform families about our families of schools. This includes but is not limited to:

      • Door-to-door canvassing

      • Attend Better Enrollment outreach events

      • Partner with family-serving organizations

 

  • Develop Marketing Materials For Enrollment

    • Create high quality marketing materials that communicate our mission and vision and speak to a diverse population.

    • Maintain external website related to enrollment

 

  • Lead Learning Opportunities for Interested Families

    • Host information sessions and tours for families to learn about the family of school value we hold, yet our uniqueness in models.

 

  • Project Manage the Enrollment Process

    • In collaboration with leaders, family liaison, community organizer and operations team, coordinate  the enrollment and matriculation logistics for a process to best meet our enrollment target numbers.

    • Report out data to school leaders in efforts to communicate progress on student enrollment, wait lists and conversions of our applicants.

    • Creates metrics based on this data in collaboration with Director of Operations to best inform recruitment strategies and practices.

 

  • Manage Admissions

    • Monitors campus specific enrollment to achieve target enrollment and follows up with enrollment team to ensure we are supporting families through the application process and throughout the school year.

 

  • Additional Responsibilities, as assigned

 

Requirements to Apply:

  • Bilingual in Spanish

  • Experience working in schools or with youth and families

  • Demonstrated understanding of issues facing urban communities, specifically East Oakland

  • Excellent oral and written communication, collaboration, initiative, and leadership skills

  • Ability to work with a variety of school stakeholders from staff to volunteers to families and students

  • Warm, congenial, and able to maintain cooperative working relationships

  • AA Degree


 

Preferences:

  • Experience in project management

  • Experience in Parent Communication and Engagement

  • Experience with Google Apps administration

  • Experience with Adobe Suite/Creative Cloud a plus

 

Supervision:

  • Reports to: Director of Operations

 

Time Commitment:

This is a 12-month position (220 days). This role needs to be able to have a flexible work schedule as a number of evening and weekend events are mandatory such as canvassing and attending recruitment events.. When on-site or not otherwise approved by supervisor, this role is  to maintain minimum building hours of M - F from 8:00 - 5:00 p.m.

 

Compensation

This role is a salaried, full-time, exempt position. LCPS also offers generous PTO/vacation, including approximately 6 weeks of vacation/holidays scheduled with supervisor approval and 8 sick/personal days.
