Our team is focused on building technology that helps families feel safe and together even when they are outside of the home and apart. From personalized location-based alerts that help make daily coordination easier, to advanced sensor tech that can detect if you are in a car crash and automatically send you an ambulance, we are leveraging smartphones to their fullest extent to reinvent how families get through the day.

You will be joining Life360 at a key moment in our history. We doubled active users and tripled revenue in 2017, and we are scaling our team to accommodate this rapid growth. We currently have 75 full-time employees, with offices in San Francisco, Las Vegas, and San Diego.

About the Job:

Examples of work that you will do at Life360 as a Software Engineer II, Android:

  • Build innovative user-facing features in the Life360 app based on maps and Material Design
  • Use latest technologies (Kotlin, RxJava, Dagger) on the Android platform
  • Help open-source internal libraries like our Model Store and Battery Monitor to give back to the developer community
  • Participate in the interview process to help us hire great talent

You are someone who is:

  • A self-starter who is eager to learn, improve, and grow
  • Conduct thorough design and code reviews
  • Deliver high-quality software with unit tests and automation
  • Work in a cross-functional team of design, product, mobile, backend, and test
  • Able to communicate well

You have the following experience:

  • Minimum 2+ years of Android development experience
  • Experience working on a commercial app on Google Play Store that deals with the local database and server API calls
  • Passionate about technology and never-ending curiosity about the new features in Android
  • Comfortable with multiple areas of the Android SDK
  • Comfortable in a small, intense and high-growth start-up environment

We’d be excited if you have:

  • An app live on Google Play or contributions to open source software
  • A sense of humor and the ability not to take yourself too seriously
  • Experience developing location-based services
  • Experience with multiple mobile platforms

And we’d be *really* excited if you have:

  • Experience with RxJava or other functional programming paradigms
  • Experience with Uber RIBs or other mobile UI design patterns (MVP, MVVM, VIPER)
