Data Science | New York, NY | Full Time

Job Description

Data Scientist – Social Network Data and Financial Services

Lenddo is always looking for Data Scientists to join our Data Science team. Individuals in this role will be comfortable working with very large cloud based datasets. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in the study of an online social network, and a passion for using technology to improve peoples’ lives.

At Lenddo, our development cycle is extremely fast, and we've built tools to keep it that way.  It's common to write code and have it running on the live site a few days later. This comes as a pleasant surprise to engineers who have worked at other companies where code takes months or years to see the light of day. If you work for us, you will be able to make an immediate impact on the team and most importantly for our members.

•             Work closely our Chief Scientist to continuously improve our trustworthiness scores and algorithms

•             Develop, prototype and productize new machine learning and graph algorithms operating on big data

•             Solve risk management questions by using appropriate statistical techniques on available data

•             Communicate findings to product managers and engineers

•             Drive the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources

•             Analyze and interpret the results of underwriting experiments

•             Improve the lives of our members by helping them prove online identity and trustworthyness

•             M.S. or Ph.D. in a relevant technical field

•             Extensive experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches

•             Comfort manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources

•             A strong passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data

•             A flexible analytic approach that allows for results at varying levels of precision

•             Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner

•             Fluency with at least one scripting language such as Python or PHP

•             Familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases (Hadoop, Cassandra, Redis, MongoDB) and MapReduce

•             Expert knowledge of an analysis tool such as R, Matlab, or SAS

•             Experience working with large data sets, or working with distributed computing tools a plus (Map/Reduce, Hadoop, pig, Hive, etc.)

This role will report to our Chief Scientist and is based in our Soho office in New York City. We offer a competitive compensation package including equity options for all employees.
