Quality Assurance Engineer

LegitScript, one of the Top 100 Workplaces in Oregon, is seeking an exceptional Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team at our Portland, Oregon-based headquarters.

What we are looking for:

An experienced Quality Assurance Engineer with a proven track record of creating, automating, and executing black-box and white-box test plans on web applications. You will be a member of our engineering team collaborating with others to design, implement, test, and maintain our software in an agile development and continuous delivery model.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Work as a member of a Scrum team delivering compliance solutions and systems into on-premise and cloud-hosted infrastructures in node.js while working to refactor a legacy Ruby application to our new platform.

  • Develop test plans on new features as well as existing systems to ensure high quality of products.

  • Collaborate with team to drive quality efforts and define strategies to increase quality of overall suite of software.

  • Test solutions that collate and analyze large data sets ensuring that accuracy of data is maintained.

  • Enjoy solving tough problems and doesn’t shy away from a challenge

  • Embody a culture of continuous improvement and facilitate improvements to deployed systems.

  • Collaborate with the team to establish processes to ensure high quality coding practices are being utilized.

  • Regularly participate in code reviews and design sessions.

  • Clearly report on software defects to ensure reproducibility and a clear understanding of the requirements that were missed.

  • Create documentation of quality strategy, test plans, and testing frameworks.

  • Conduct technical presentations/demonstrations as necessary.

  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, UI automation, and performance testing.

  • Collaborate with management and stakeholders on best technical approaches to rapidly resolve issues and maintain business continuity.

  • Have a lot of fun and help make the world a safer place.


  • 2+ years as a QA Engineer

  • Experience with automation tools and frameworks like Selenium.

  • Experience with scripting languages like javascript, python, or ruby.

  • 1+ years of testing software in an agile environment (either Kanban or Scrum)

  • Highly effective communicator with the ability to effectively relay information both to your team as well as to stakeholders and management.

  • Collaborative work style that seeks consensus.

  • Experience with Google Docs, Microsoft Office, Jira, and Confluence.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

  • Knowledge of distributed systems and microservice architectures a plus.

  • Experience testing RESTful APIs.

  • Experience with Git for source code control.

  • Experience developing with database platforms MySQL and PostGres.

  • Experience working with Amazon Web Services.

  • Ability to communicate technical details in a manner that is easily understood by non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and learn new technologies to meet changing business needs.

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.


Highly Desired:


  • 2+ Years of experience developing large-scale, cloud-deployed systems on AWS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline (Computer Science, Engineering, Math, etc.)

  • Experience testing web UI’s in Angular 2/4

  • Experience writing SQL queries.

  • Experience testing AWS Lambda or other serverless frameworks.

  • Experience with No-SQL database platforms Cassandra, Mongo, or DyanmoDB

  • Experience performance testing distributed cloud based systems.
