Job Description

Kwalee is an expanding, independent mobile game developer based in the heart of the beautiful town of Leamington Spa, England, within the area known as Silicon Spa. The company was founded in 2011 by David Darling (CBE awarded by the Queen), co-founder of Codemasters and comprises of a highly skilled and creative team, including the original creator of the Micro Machines video games (yes, you read well, we have celebrities here!).

As Junior Games Artist you’re creative, enthusiastic and looking for an opportunity to work in next generation mobile gaming.

What you will really be doing

  • A wide variety of 2D focused art tasks including concepting, animation, VFX and UI design and layouts

 

How you will be doing this

  • You’ll be part of an agile, multidisciplinary and talented team and work closely with them

  • You’ll be creating assets and working with Unity

 

What have we worked on last quarter

We’ve been improving Tens!, launched Spillz and Skidz and developed several other exciting mobile F2P games which are due to be launched imminently

You’ll work within an extremely experienced and passionate team, including David Darling and the creator of the original Micro Machines video game.

 

Skills and requirements

  • Strong sketching / drawing skills

  • Strong 2D, concepting, illustration, UI and/or animation skills

  • Some experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator

  • Strong communicationinterpersonal skills and be a team player

  • Ability to visualise and communicate ideas effectively

  • You'll be expected to engage in and produce different styles of game assets across multiple mobile titles

  • creative mindset motivated by challenges and constantly striving for the best

  • You love either console or mobile games, preferably both

 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Unity

  • 3D modelling experience

Salary and location

  • Salary is negotiable depending upon proven track record and experience

  • This job is based in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire

  • The position involves working a minimum of 40 hours per week in our office

  • You must have the full right to work within the UK
