The RF Design Engineer will work on a variety of exciting and novel RF projects, including a piece of Kumu’s core technology (analog self-interference cancellation) up to 6GHz.  Responsibilities include designing, testing, and optimizing RF systems from scratch as well as transitioning systems from prototype to production. The ideal candidate will have strong electromagnetic fundamentals and understand how RF circuits work, as well as possess the creativity to use standard components in nontraditional and innovative ways. They will work with a team of RF/HW engineers as well as systems engineers to develop novel, full-duplex communication systems.



• Design, simulate, capture schematics and oversee layout of RF PCBs including circuits such as amplifiers, passive components, mixers, and other transceiver-related components.

   • Perform testing on new designs to ensure requirements such as gain, noise figure,1db compression point, distortion limits, and impedance matching are met

   • Participate in design reviews for a variety of RF and non-RF sub-systems 

   • Design or use off-the- shelf components such as transformers, baluns, couplers, attenuators, phase shifters and delay lines in creative ways to meet specific system requirements

Bring-up and trouble-shooting of RF boards

   • Prepare and release to manufacturing designs for both prototype and production

   • Support products through UL and FCC testing

   • Work with software team to specify control requirements


Desired skills and experience:

· 5+ years experience in hands-on RF design of wireless transceivers up to 10GHz

· Experience designing both direct-conversion and/or superheterodyne transceivers

· Experience with microstrip, stripline, and coplanar waveguide PCB design from schematic through fabrication

· Experience in PCB design for directional couplers, coupled line filters, and other printed RF components

· Experience designing passive and active RF filters

· Comfortable with ADS and/or other RF simulation packages

· Comfortable with schematic entry tools like OrCad

· Comfortable with lab testing using signal generators, analyzers, and VNAs

· Familiarity with communications protocols & signal processing

· Desire to work in a fast-paced environment

    BS EE or similar degree, MS preferred



· Some experience with scripting languages (Python and/or Matlab)

· Product validation and reliability testing

· Experience in bringing high volume RF/mmW products from design-to-production
