Primary Role and Responsibility:

The primary role of the Senior Engineer, Manufacturing and Supplier is to develop the production guidelines for manufacturing and component suppliers, which also includes Korrus' contract manufacturing (CM) partners. The role review and change the manufacturing processes to continue throughput and quality improvement.

Production Support Duties: 

  • Study and understand the company’s products detailed construction and materials requirements and the manufacturing methods used to produce each component and finished product.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from manufacturing staff and supplier’s production staff.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Evaluates and selects automation equipment to reinforce existing production line for scaling the output.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Develop manufacturing process requirements, work instructions, training guidelines, performing process audits and final sign off.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Has deep understanding of SPC. Help the production team to remove variance and waste
  • Assist the Operation team to achieve world class OTD for customers
  • Assist the Operation team to achieve world class product quality

Supplier Support Duties: 

  • Maintains product and company reputation by ensuring the supplier partners comply with government/regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures that supplier partners keep equipment operational and compliant to process requirements by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
  • Ensures supplier’s product and process database (related to production and quality) are updated and maintained accurately. Development of supplier process metrics and process monitoring methods as well as conduct routine process audits.
  • Drive the supply plan with contract manufacturing partners to meet customer orders. Oversee the execution to meet the customer requirement.
  • Support supplier and contract manufacturing in different time zone.
  • Participate in setup of product quality plan, production test plan, process capability study, quality control documents and follow up implementation results with manufacturing and suppliers.
  • Work closely with Operation and supplier for quality problems detection and problem solving during the project in production pilot and mass production stage
  • Implement preventive task on product quality, such as monitor supplier's KPIs on Rolled Throughput Yield (YRTP), Outgoing QC DPPM, IQC, field failure and Unannounced Production Line Audit tasks
  • Manage manufacturing and supplier to implement Engineering change. Manage the process of planning, documentation, review, traceability, and implementation, including Supplier Engineering & Process Changes

NPI support duties: 

  • Works cross functionally with Product Engineering, Logistics, Customer Service, Operations/Order Management, QA and Demand Planning
  • Provides production manufacturing engineering information and subject leadership in cross-functional programs.
  • Leads NPI project through multiple development and evaluation stages
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering and 5 years of working experience in the related field. 10 year experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in New Product Introduction, interfacing with new product development, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality to ensure smooth product start-ups in a factory environment. 5+ years desired.
  • Demonstrated success in hands-on problem solving in product NPI, mass production and supplier.
  • Lean manufacturing environment experience preferred.
  • Experience in working with contract manufacturers and suppliers. Willing to travel to CM when needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to speak and write in English. Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred.
