Roles and Responsibilities:

The Warehouse and Fulfillment Manager is responsible for the daily operations in our facility where we ship product to our wholesale and ecommerce customers.  Warehouse operations consist of a combination of pick-and-pack, assembly, and cross-dock fulfillment activities.  

  • Supervision and direction of a growing warehouse team of 50-200 people (including leads and supervisors) to meet fulfillment and order shipment goals.  

  • Oversee the hire and training of exempt/non-exempt/temporary employees.  Scheduling and management of shifts on a daily/weekly basis to ensure appropriate staffing levels.  Maintaining a pipeline of available workers to support additional needs during peak or growth periods.

  • Coach, counsel and discipline employees as appropriate to increase their operational effectiveness and customer oriented disposition.   

  • Utilize structured performance improvement methods (ex: Lean, six sigma) to drive performance improvement in all areas. Continuously evaluate and improve processes to ensure the safety and proper treatment of the product as well as accuracy and efficiency of picking and shipping orders.

  • Stay on top of facility capacity and work with stakeholders as necessary to ensure sufficient capacity to meet business needs.

  • Establish KPIs and daily targets for team and monitor/drive performance against targets. Present information in a consistent format and conduct tracking over time to identify trends and anticipate issues.

  • Work with peers and management teams to drive the desired culture attributes within the operation.

  • Establish consistent SOPs and compliance thereof.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT and safety and environmental rules.

  • Maintain inventory accuracy, availability and visibility, through proper storage and organization practices, as well as periodic cycle counting. Reconciliation of physical and electronic inventory systems.

  • Upkeep of physical warehouse plant to ensure safety and compliance as well as wellbeing of warehouse team.


Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in a process-oriented warehouse/fulfillment operation or similar environment; College Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred; Lean or Six-Sigma considered a strong plus.
  • Experience running an e-commerce facility is a must.

  • Must be metrics driven.  Performance management, project management and continuous process improvement experience is a must.

  • Self-directed, flexible, entrepreneurial and resourceful.

  • Positive energy, enjoy a fast pace and not afraid of change and experimentation.

  • Experience managing daily workforce and hourly production team members; setting and enforcing policies and disciplinary actions, when needed.

  • Experience making, packing, assembling a product with a strong focus on presentation and aesthetics.

  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize work.

  • Knowledge of compliance issues (legal, HR, OSHA, safety etc.) a plus.

  • Knowledge of best practices in an assembly environment a plus.

  • Knowledge of best practices with respect to inventory handling and organization.

  • Interest in maintaining an organized environment.

  • Creative problem solver and ability to think critically.

  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.

  • Curiosity and ability to get up to speed quickly on specifics of a new business.

  • Quantitative (basic math, excel) skills that enable you to create and track metrics and understand what meaningful metrics say about performance.

  • Understanding of lead times and how to sequence activities.

  • Experience creating, documenting and evaluating quality standards.

  • Communication skills: Clear, concise written and spoken English. Spanish speaking a plus.

  • Manage time effectively with limited supervision; well-organized and detail-oriented.

  • Accurate record keeping and data management.
