KiwiCo is seeking a Storybook Writer to work with us on part-time contract basis (remote is ok) to help us develop fun, engaging board books to be included in our Cricket Crate product line, for babies and toddlers ages 0-36 months. We’re looking for someone who can take a story from pitching the idea to script development to illustration, while working within our existing characters and guidelines.
Pitching concepts for stories based on product topics.
Developing the pitch into an outline and working with our illustration lead to develop a storyboard.
Completing and polishing the script to final approval from editorial lead.
Since this position is remote, candidates must be comfortable communicating and collaborating with a team over chat, email, and video calls. We seek team players with an infectious positive energy, great initiative, and a get-it-done attitude. Candidates must thrive in ambiguity and love a rapid pace. You must have a strong desire to learn and improve.
Required skills and responsibilities:
Experience. You have excellent writing skills and past experience writing children’s books. Experience writing for toddlers is a plus.
Passionate about storytelling. You love our young customers and understand how to communicate enriching educational concepts in a fun and relatable way.
Detail-oriented. Exceptional attention to detail, grammar, and logical story construction, with an eye for visual communication and illustration.
Resourceful and Flexible. You see a project from idea stage through successful completion and do whatever it takes to make it a success.
Collaborative. Able to give and receive feedback well.
