KiwiCo is seeking STEM Subject Matter Experts to work with us on a part-time contract basis (remote is ok) to help us develop educational materials for our hands-on activity kits. We’re looking for people who are passionate about their area of expertise and who are excited to help inspire a love of science and engineering in our young customers.
Researching the science and engineering concepts behind our projects to ensure the educational materials are complete and accurate.
Providing the product and editorial team with topic summaries of the concepts, and iterating to develop an outline.
Writing article drafts on a range of topics, and iterating to develop a version at an age-appropriate level for the product.
Since this position is remote, candidates must be comfortable communicating and collaborating with a team over chat, email, and video calls. We seek team players with an infectious positive energy, great initiative, and a get-it-done attitude. Candidates must thrive in ambiguity and love a rapid pace. You must have a strong desire to learn and improve.
Required skills and responsibilities:
Background. You have a strong background in a STEM field such as chemistry, physics, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering.
Communication experience. You have solid writing skills and past experience writing for a general audience. Experience with writing for kids is a plus.
Passionate about education. You love our young customers and understand how to communicate enriching educational concepts in a fun and relatable way.
Detail-oriented. Exceptional attention to detail, grammar, and logical story construction, with an eye for visual communication and illustration.
Resourceful and Flexible. You see a project from idea stage through successful completion and do whatever it takes to make it a success.
Collaborative. Able to give and receive feedback well.
