Role and Responsibilities:

We’re out to find someone who can spearhead the growth of our internal production department to make game-changing video content for KiwiCo. Someone with a great deal of experience in the video production world with a vision for how to scale the capacity and creative output of our current photo/video team. All, while overseeing the day-to-day operations and deliverables. This role is responsible for tactical aspects of the departments, ensuring the right resources (people, equipment, studio spaces) are assigned to the right projects and that schedule goals are met, while simultaneously managing our creators to their fullest potential. 

Your mission is to support the creative and brand teams in making great work, on budget and on time, while envisioning and implementing a studio build-out for both our Mountain View office and new LA studio. You will also be liaising externally with ad agencies, production partners, freelancers and crew to support and supplement our in-house capabilities. 

Looking for someone who is well-versed in operating as a producer within a production studio, post house or ad agency, with management experience. A candidate who is organized and flexible, who can help ideate and implement systems to build out our growing production department.

  • Manages Photo/Video

  • Create the high-level vision and processes for seamlessly sharing resources studio and equipment across the production team

  • Identify, hire and manage all freelance support where needed

  • Oversee build-out and design of new Mountain View Photo/Video and Content studios

  • Oversee the build-out and resourcing of the new LA office studio

  • Oversees implementation of new server

  • Acts as senior producer, bidding and overseeing projects with out-of-house vendors and production partners, on select projects

  • Manage screening and hiring new producer, video, editorial and photography talent 

  • Manage and maintain production and department operational budgets

  • Take the lead on developing timelines for a multitude of ongoing projects and help the team prioritize their own time

  • Liaison between the brand team, marketing team, editorial and product team to help develop processes that move creative work through and out the building in a timely manner

  • Observe opportunities to optimize and invent new systems for sharing resources across the department

  • Develop a supportive, collaborative and hyper-creative culture within the team

  • Mentor and guide a hungry, talented team of photographers, videographers, editors and creators.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must thrive in ambiguity and love a rapid pace. You must have a strong desire to learn and improve. Excellent organizational, communications, and multi-tasking skills are musts. Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Minimum 5 years commercial production experience in a senior production role at studio, post-house, television network or ad agency (for example Production Manager, Line Producer, Bidding Producer) for US Commercials.

  • Minimum of 3 years management experience

  • Experience bidding, budgeting, coordinating, delivering video assets in a Sr. Producer role

  • Creative hands-on experience producing multi-format content, like digital series, paid or organic social and commercial TV, etc.

  • Have and maintain a large network of high-quality crew, vendor, and global production service partners

  • A flexible and adaptable skill set, able to see the big picture while working with executives, creative directors and in house production on day-to-day deliverables

  • Shoot-day problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, relationship building, and multi-tasking skills

  • Deep knowledge of set lighting principles and techniques

  • Deep understanding of best practices in creative production processes 

  • Ability to think on the fly, adapt to changing timelines, and re-organize internal and external collaborators, if needed.

  • Ability to judge priorities across a multitude of projects and business initiatives and keep the team ten steps ahead

  • An openness to trying and experiment within the role
