Kite Pharma Inc., founded in 2009, is dedicated to the development and commercialization of novel cancer immunotherapy products designed to harness the power of a patient’s own immune system to fight tumor cells. The candidate will develop and optimize immunological, biological and molecular based assays in support of research, product development, manufacture and clinical activities at Kite Pharma. The successful applicant will contribute to the development and optimization of assays for multiple product lot release and stability studies, product process development, product impurity and product characterization. Additional responsibilities include in-house assay qualification and provision of technical support to transfer assays to CMOs; generate anti-id antibodies for FACS/PK/PD studies for each of product candidates; develop and perform following assays: PK/PD analysis of clinical samples, Luminex based assays for cytokine profile analysis of both product and clinical patient samples, cell based assays to screen hybridoma clones for anti-id antibodies, immunogenicity and neutralization assays to detect and characterization of HAMA/HAHA antibodies in clinical patient samples for multiple products. Expectations also include compliance with FDA regulation for documentation of experiments and reports, data entry, and record keeping; communication of results to members in various functional areas, QC and maintenance of equipment, general laboratory maintenance, and ordering of supplies. Other duties may be assigned as well.
The candidate should have a B.S, M.S, or PhD in biology, cellular immunology or related field, and 8+ years of relevant experience for B.S and M.S., ideally in industry setting. Experience with all aspects of flow cytometric analysis (FACS), Luminex and related technologies for assessing lymphocyte function/phenotype, as well as hands on experience with assay development are ideal. Experience in assay qualification and transfer is preferred. Proven ability to troubleshoot problems in development and performance of assays and routine instrument operation, understanding and familiarity with techniques used in cell culture and cell characterization are required. Strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment are essential.
