Position Summary

Kite is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead the European order process for our T cell therapy for cancer treatment. The Senior Manager, Cell Order Management, Europe will be responsible to lead the cell order process, including order management (input, update and monitor), manufacturing scheduling, orders coordination for on-time delivery and status tracking through shipment and manufacturing, safeguard the integrity of the Chain of Identity/Chain of Custody, alignment and communication with internal and external stakeholders,  troubleshooting, measurement and improvement of the entire process. He/she will collaborate with cross-functional teams in Europe and US including Technical Operations, Commercial Operations, Quality, Treatment Sites and External Service providers to accomplish Kite’s objectives for product launch and lifecycle management.


Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Manages order process from order generation, changes, shipment through final delivery confirmation
  • Coordinates all aspects of the “cell journey” on daily basis including apheresis, shipping, processing, manufacturing and return of final product back to the treatment sites
  • Schedules critical steps of the ‘cell journey’, has overall responsibility for schedule alignment across every step of the ‘cell journey’ activities, including apheresis, manufacturing, packing, transportation, and delivery
  • Provide input to S&OP to ensure optimization of manufacturing scheduling and cell order lead-time
  • Host regular meetings with commercial operations and other internal stakeholders to ensure continuous alignment of orders among all stakeholders and communicates, manages and reconciles variances
  • Acts as liaison between Kite Manufacturing and Kite Commercial for cell orders
  • Inputs and monitors cell order progress within Kite Pharma’s ERP System
  • Reconciles shipment data between multiple systems to ensure alignment
  • Develops shipment monitoring/tracking systems and troubleshoots deviations
  • Provides clear direction to logistics to ensure efficient preparation for all shipments and on-time delivery
  • Troubleshoots and develops plans of action for both expected & unanticipated logistical issues during the transport of Kite Pharma product
  • Supports new treatment site development/onboarding
  • Continuously refines and improves product transport & storage processes
  • Manages shipment forecast to mitigate transport risk
  • Develops, authors, and implements procedures and work instructions for logistics related processes
  • Trains service providers and customers on logistic requirements
  • Prepares metrics and updates for management as assigned. Proactively identifies potential issues/risks and recommends/implements solutions.
  • Collaborates effectively with multiple individuals and organizations in a cross-functional, team- oriented environment


Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree with 10+ years or Bachelor’s degree in life sciences with 15+ years of relevant experience in the Biopharmaceutical industry
  • The ideal candidate is well versed in biopharma product launch and lifecycle management in a team leader role in launch planning, logistics coordination, production/operations planning, and/or customer service
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in GMP and working with Quality and manufacturing organizations
  • Working knowledge in biopharma product handling and manufacturing process, understand the impact of process deviations
  • Working knowledge in biopharma launch planning, and experience working directly with commercial operations is a plus
  • Experience in writing SOPs and work instructions
  • Ability to work with multiple database and electronic systems. Experience with Oracle/ERP, courier, and material ordering portals, considered a plus
  • Must display strong analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to details is required; ability to anticipate variance and risks and develop options
  • Demonstrated leadership quality and effectiveness working cross-functionally in a global environment and in matrix teams, as well as with 3rd party service providers
  • Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; working language English is a must, additional linguistic skill is a plus
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, self-directed and able to adjust workload based on changing priorities
  • Quick learner of new technology/process/work environment and ability to translate learning to work plans for improving business performance
  • Must exhibit discipline in planning and plan execution
