Kite, a Gilead Company is a biopharmaceutical company engaged in the development of innovative cancer immunotherapies with a goal of providing rapid, long-term durable response and eliminating the burden of chronic care. The company is focused on chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) and T cell receptor (TCR) engineered cell therapies designed to empower the immune system's ability to recognize and kill tumours. Kite Europe is currently adding additional talent as it focuses on developing the European Region in support of providing maximum access to patients with unmet needs
As a key member of the European Medical Affairs team, the Senior Director/Director Medical Affairs will be responsible for establishing the medical affairs function in Europe; under the leadership of the Head of Medical Affairs, Europe, he or she will be responsible for the creation of the European medical affairs strategy and the execution of a full operational plan.
As such, you will be a key members of the European team and will have an excellent growth opportunity over the next 2-3 years as the company grows. He/she will provide medical expertise, market access focus, and insights to both the EU and corporate organizations and will have to develop strong relationships with key internal stakeholders as well as with a variety of external audiences.
The Director, Medical Affairs Europe will report to the Head of Medical Affairs Europe
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Contribute to the development of the EU Medical Affair’s strategy; ensure alignment with the global and US medical affairs strategies
Develop and deliver a pan EU Medical Affairs Plan of Actions that support the strategy (including as an example but not limited to: the UMN, data gaps analysis, scientific communication, conferences activities, KOL s…)
Play a pivotal role in the execution of the EU Pricing and Reimbursement Strategy and support Countries specific needs/requirements; play a leading and supportive role for the European key countries and beyond for the non-EU core 5 key countries
Create and execute the EU Medical Communication Plan
Establish MS strategy in the EU, including field deployment, as well as training and content development for launch
Co-lead the development of an EU Medical Information Function
Partner with Clinical Research, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial and Market Access colleagues to identify any data/evidence gaps that will impact regulatory pathway, reimbursement or time to, or depth of, use in each of the major EU markets. Consider data generation (cohort, registry).
Review and develop scientific and strategic recommendations of any ISRs that could be submitted by HCPs
Develop strong collaborative partnership with countries medical directors and MSs teams
Develop strong partnership with external key Cooperative Groups
Develop strong and active relationships with the patient advocacy organizations and community
Development and review of any medical materials used in Europe in compliance with internal and countries specific rules- manage budget
Review of any promotional material and commercial materials according to compliance rules
Knowledge, Experience & Skills
MD, Immunology or Oncology
Extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry along with 6 years plus expertise in immunology/haematology
Proven track record of executing a medical affairs plan to support an innovative new product launch in a large European market
Excellent communication skills
Fluency in English, with additional languages, i.e. French and German advantageous
Established EU thought leader network in hematology is preferred
Proven ability to work across a cross-functional matrix
Self-starter with “can do” attitude
Basic knowledge of budget and account management
Management experience would be advantageous
This position will require at least 50% travel towards the European HQ in the UK and will perform at European Level with an initial focus on Germany.
