Healthy Highland Enterprise Head Chef
Summary of Position
Healthy Highland Enterprise Head Chef will work with the Healthy Highland Enterprise Manager, Highland Neighborhood Association and community partners to develop and manage a food service enterprise in the Highland Community. Duties include but are not limited to assuring kitchen facilities are set up, equipped, and meet all health inspection standards; working with community members to gather recipes; working with nutritionists to assure menu is healthy, manage day-to-day operations of the central kitchen; and attend community meetings and gatherings which may occur outside normal business hours.
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications are the minimum necessary to adequately perform this job. However, any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements; Must be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time; Ability to read and understand the English language; Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel.
Experience: Experience in food service management required.
Additional skills required: Must have excellent verbal communication skills and excellent organizational skills.
Additional skills preferred: Knowledge of and passion for the Highland Community and population health.
Education: High School Diploma or GED certificate required, bachelor’s degree preferred
Certification(s): Serve Safe Certification to be completed within 90 days of hire.
Key Responsibilities
Assure kitchen facilities are meet project needs and Health Department standards.
Gather neighborhood recipes and work with community partners to make sure they are nutritionally balanced.
Maintain a supply chain that includes local farmers/local foods.
Plan and execute special events so that the community can taste the food and provide feedback.
Keep the voice of the Highland Community at the center of all decisions regarding the enterprise.
Complete Serve Safe Certification within 90 days of starting the position.
Perform other duties as assigned.
