Dental Patient Services Representative (PSR) 

Summary of Position | The dental PSR is the first contact point for patients and visitors to our center. At all times the PSR should command a professional, friendly and polite manner. As part of the dental team, the PSR’s role is to assist in the smooth and efficient running of the practice, to adhere to protocols at all times in line with the company strategy, goals and values. Under the direct supervision of the Practice Manager and the PSR Supervisor, this position is responsible for timely and accurate recording of patient demographics, insurance information, patient charges and payments. Cross training required in multiple administrative support functions including dental records, scanning, and PHI request and messaging to both clinical and non-clinical staff.

Key Responsibilities 

  1. Welcome patients and visitors to the practice with a smile, making them feel important.

  2. Speaks courteously, clearly and calmly to patients in person, or on the phone

  3. Gather, verify and accurately enter and update any dental, medical and insurance changes.

  4. Properly notify the attending dentist and working assistants of patient’s arrival and readiness.

  5. Answer and respond to telephone calls with professionalism

  6. Uses script properly as needed when on the phone.

  7. Schedule patients for efficient use of doctor and staff time, making patients aware of any overdue balances.

  8. Manage recall system.

  9. Confirm the next day's appointments by phone, reminding patient of their account status.

  10. Willingly perform other tasks as assigned by the dentist or PSR supervisor.


  • Basic dental terminology required, knowledge can be obtained through formal classes or work experience.

  • Proficient in use of all computer software utilized in practice.

  • Bilingual is required. 

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED certificate required
