Medical Paralegal/Record Reviewer/Med-Record Abstractor

Job Description

Medical office located in Vallejo is in search of an experienced Medical-Legal Report Writer and record reviewer. You will have a set work schedule and must be available to work intermittent Saturday or Sunday.

Responsibilities:
- Good understanding and strong background with medical, orthopedic, psychiatric, legal, employment, depositions and administrative records
- Review and analyze a summary of medical records regarding an applicant’s medical history, treatment history, imaging findings, tests results     and permanent and stationary status
- Ability to address questions of concern such as causation and apportionment, and some familiarity of AMA Guides
- Finalize and proof read med-legal charts and consultations to meet medical-legal standard of reporting

Qualifications:
- 5+ years in workers’ compensation medical legal report writing or record reviewing
- Full understanding of med-legal terms including causation, permanent and stationary, apportionment, temporary/partial disability
- Strong command of English (verbal, written and communication)
- Excellent proof reading skills
- Microsoft Word proficient
- At least 60 wpm
- Detailed oriented
- Ability to meet strict deadlines
- Remain calm and collected in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work professionally, effectively and efficiently in a team environment with the staff, management, patients and external contacts

- Possession of a Macbook computer is required for the position
