About KING:

Kids in the Game is dedicated to developing New York City’s youth by providing opportunities through sports and fitness to the schools and communities we serve. Our goal is to develop the next generation of leaders by developing healthy habits, an active lifestyle, and promoting personal growth through play and competition. During the school year, KING is rooted in dozens of schools around New York City, offering recess, after-school, physical education, early drop off fitness, and sports instruction. In addition, KING operates summer camps, sports clinics (basketball, soccer, volleyball), and special events.

Track and Field Coach

Position Description/Core Responsibilities:

Kids in the Game (KING) is currently looking for dedicated, qualified and experienced Track and Field Coaches who love coaching the sport and especially love working with youth athletes, ranging from Elementary to Middle School. Qualified candidates have an athletic background in competitive running, collegiate experience is highly preferred , and a minimum of one year experience coaching youth athletes . We hope applicants are passionate about running and students of the sport! KING Speed is dedicated to teaching each student-athlete how to be a responsible runner, the importance of recovery and nutrition, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Responsibilities and Duties

Key Responsibilities:

Coaches will be expected to lead and structure a 60-minute practice for 30 athletes to include the following elements:

-Warm Up

-Form Drills


-Dynamic Stretching

-Interval or tempo work

-Cool down

Position Details:

Days and Hours:

Option 1: Tuesday and Thursday: 3:15-5:15pm

Option 2: Wednesday: 3 - 5:30PM

Grades: 3-8

Size: 30 athletes per team

We are Prepared : Dress appropriately, arrive on time, attend all appropriate staff meetings, and hold coaching staff meetings, etc to ensure quality standards are upheld.

Qualifications and Skills


Bilingual is preferred, but not required.

Former college athlete and/or current coach preferred, but not required

2+ years’ experience working with children

Demonstrated experience leading groups of children with the ability to engage and inspire youth

Ability to communicate effectively to senior staff and administrations at schools.

Experience interacting with diverse communities


Competitive hourly rate.
